crazy cluster idea

I searched but didn't find anything specific to this.

So the other day i was swapping out clusters and i noticed on the back it had the P R N D 2 1 that the 5th gen's have. I thought it be pretty cool if i could have it too. as pictured below

even the black cover has the outline to be dremeled out with no possibility of screw up.

I went and got the 5th gen cover and it was a direct fit...

But i got no light to shine through the bulbs as can be seen here

So i was wondering if anyone out there has done this before or has any idea how to get this to work because evrything seems to be in order back there.

mucho thank you's!

First two results from searching

http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...e-cluster.html
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...r-cluster.html

Basically, no wiring exists to illuminate the bulbs. You'd have to rig something up yourself. Not that 'crazy' of an idea, it was discussed at least 7 years ago in this forum.

Wow. My biggest issue was that I couldn't find the PRND21 film thing to fit, now that I know the 5th gen one fits, Im down. If you're willing to sell that one, or find me another one, Ill crack into this and get a writeup done...

Who did it? To my knowledge, it's never been done, only discussed.

personally, i hate those displays, one of best things i love about 4th gens. those things are for girls who cant feel how many clicks it takes to go into D, R , or where P is.

Because...girls are bad at mathematics now? I wasn't aware that a woman couldn't count 3 down into Drive

And it's not necessarily about getting into a gear, it's knowing where the shift lever is at all times.

The '97 FSM shows no trace of the PRND21 lights, circuitry, or anything on the cluster. What gives?

Again, there's no wiring for them at all in the USDM A32; no reason for there to be information in the FSM.
