shifting issue w/ auto

Heres the issue...i come to a stop sign (or some place where i need to stop), but dont stop completely, maybe roll through going less than 5mph. Then i go WOT and the car stays in second gear, it start at 1500 rpms and goes all the way up till 4-5k when it shifts into 3rd.

heres the second issue which may or may not be related. Im acceleratiing mayb 1/2 or 3/4 throttle and then the car shifts ( usually into 3rd), i take my foot off the gas and the rpms drop way down sometimes below 500, and then jump right back up to around 1000 rpms.

i dont kno if these issues are related but both are very annoying. Idk if it madders but i always have OD on cause the button is broken and i cant turn it off.

if it would help i can post some videos of whats goin on.

thanks

Are you sure it's in second, and not third? The stock A32 TCM programming will keep you in 3rd from a rolling stop under most conditions.

However going WOT, it should immediately kick you back down to first gear.

Is the CEL on? Have done the TCM diagnostics to check for trans codes?

im pretty sure its second, but not 100% sure.

the CEL isnt on, but i didnt check for any 'ghost' codes, and i haven't done the TCM diagnostic because i dont kno what that is .

EDIT: i was just looking up how to do the TCM diagnostic and it includes turning the OD on and off which i cant do b/c something is broken(either the button a connection or something) and it just stays on all the time.

I have the exact same problem with my 99 max but with one other that drives me crazy. most of the time when i go wot i get this knocking feeling from the trans and if the trans mounts are gone. I don't if they are any trans mounts. If not then this is coming from the trans.

Hey mahanddeem if you could post a video of your problem maybe this could help with this problem i'm some others will have this problem sooner or later.

I found this thread and maybe this is what we're experiencing

From what i'm reading is that the TCM maybe faulty and replacing it will fix our problem. Question is where is the TCM located on the 4th gen?

Honestly it sounds like a normally operating 4th gen slush box auto tranny being beat on.
The only thing I find strange is that you say your getting a shift from 2nd to 3rd at WOT at 4 or 5K RPMs. Are you actually getting WOT? Check your throttle cable and maybe even the TPS to make sure your actually getting WOT. As pmohr said, the rolling stop to WOT should kick you down to 1st with normal WOT shifts around 6K.

EDIT: Simply comming to a complete stop at a stop sign will land you in 1st gear with a speedy take off every time!

as long as i come to a complete stop it always kicks back to first. But if i go from a roll, it instantly goes from 3rd into second when i just push on the gas ( if its not aleady in 2nd) but it never shifts down into first.

When i go from a roll and it stays in second it shifts into 3rd at about 5k. But if im in first it goes almost to readline.

once it cools down a little up here im gonna re wire a OD switch so i can use it and so i can do the TCM diagnostic.

just did the diagnostic and it didnt show that anything was wrong. I guess ive just got a typical slushbox w/ 145k in it.
