noise in neutral

noise in neutral
i have a completely stock 97 maxima while running in neutral there is a constant noise but as soon as i push the clutch in all the way the noise goes away. anyone know for sure what the problem could be?
Also describe this noise, high pitched, clunking, whining, etc??

IPS bearing.
It's a common issue with all 5 speed 4gens.
