Had a Bad Day, need some advice...

I wasn't paying attention while backing up, let alone our garge is tiny.. Anyhow, I scraped the garage paint on to the car (from that point on I had a terrible day). Luckly I didnt dent anything or do any body damage.

Anyhow, what can I do to fix it?

Some of it is rubbing off with just some hand rubbing, I was told to try first washing the car with soap and a sponge, and then try rubbing compound and wax. Any other suggestions?

Here are some pics;

First step is to wash. Then use a polishing compound. If that doesnt work, try scratchX, and as a last resort, try rubbing compound. Once you get everything off you can, clay bar it. From there, you should get most of the paint off. Use polishing compound, and a wax on top of it to seal it. Must wax after the clay bar.

I method I used to scrap off paint transfer is to find those green scrubbing pads for dishes and make sure its a REALLY used one, so that its soft. THen just proceed to scrub, but make sure to do it gently.

Depending on how hard the pad is, it should not make any scratches, but if the pad is relatively new then it might scratch the clearcoat, and it is then that you need to compound and polish to get the scratches out

I manage an autobody repair shop out here in Cali & this happens all the time. Before you hit your car with a scotchbrite pad I reccomend going to Walmart or somewhere & getting some Mineral Spirits. If it doesnt all come off then break out the scotchbrite & soak it in the Mineral Spirits. Try using a White Pad it's the least likely to cause deep scratches in your clearcoat of all the scotchbrite pads. Just be gentle around any of the edges. Paint gets really thin there & "YOU WILL" burn right through it if your not careful. Keep in mind if you use a pad you are going to have to break out the buffer unless you got forearms like Popeye??? Like previously stated hit it with some rubbing compund & the clear will shine back up....

Ether is said to work for removing other cars paints off your own. I used to work at a part store and a lot of people used to come in and buy Starting fluid just to remove paint from other peoples car off their bumper. I've never tried it personally but I'd spray some on a rag and try...

Cliffs Notes: Starting fluid on rag then rub paint off

The paint should buff out after some elbow grease. There may be some imperfections in the paint however.

Check out the detailing forum.
