Shift lever problem

I have a '95 Maxima auto transmission, occasionally, when i try shifting from Park to other gears (R,N,D), it feels like its kinda stuck and needs to be greased. I rarely use 2 or 1 so now when I try shifting the lever, its really hard. What can be the cause of this?

Can I spray some lubricant such as silicone spray into the mechanism?

when you are shifting, are you shifting on a level surface? I know if you're on a hill, shifting is a little harder. you can ease it up by engaging your e-brake all the way and then shift, then disengage the brake. I'm guess it's some sort of stress on the tranny when you're on a slope?
