DR Mod & SES light ???'s
Ok, today I finally did the DR Mod. Maybe I just got a wild hair up my **** or something, but I just said screw it lets give it a try. Really great mod, my car always shifted very firm anyways but the DR Mod just took it to another level. Anyways I did a super clean install & ended up modding a billet FPR regulator bracket for the microswitch to keep things nice & clean under the hood.
I take the car out for a drive & WOW the car wants to lunge forward like a coiled up rattle snake ready to strike. I'm extremely happy with the improvement. Well I putt it around for another 5 minutes or so & then all of a sudden my "Service Engine Soon" light comes on. I figure no big deal, common sense tells me it got to be something to do with the Drop Resistor circuit being disconnected by the microswitch?
I'm ok with knowing that it's gonna toss a CEL because I can always reset it & I know the cause of the light? But I guess my question is "I didn't know I was gonna have to worry about a CEL by doing this mod" I recall talking to Jime about this mod several years ago, but we never discuss if doing the mod causes a perminent CEL? Does this only occur on specific year Maxima's? Mine is a 1998 SE & is there a way to clear the CEL & not have to worry about it happening again? Is there something about my install that I should double check?
As far as the install everything is super clean. All wiring was soildered instead of using connectors or taps. The only possible thing I might have a doubt about in the entire mod is the micro switch is only rated at 5amps??? Could this be causing the CEL? I don't really think so, but I'm not an electrical engineer.
Well thanks for listening, I have tried searching for my answers, but can't really find anything that specifically discusses CEL's with the DR mod when it comes to 4th gens. Maybe one of you guy's can set me straight??? Thanks again for checking this post out...

Ok, just checked my CEL codes & this is what I got
0412, I guess this has something to do with my O2 sensor voltage. May have something to do with my A/F/R gauge? I'll have to look into this one, I know the O2 wires are very sensitive...
And this one I believe is the culpret after doing my DR Mod today!!!
0504
Diagnostic Trouble Code 0504 points to a problem with the Automatic Transmission Communications line. Pulse signals are exchanged between the Engine Control Module and the Transmission Control Module to assure smooth shifting during hard acceleration or deceleration.
This malfunction is detected when the ECM continuously receives an incorrect voltage from the TCM. Possible causes include...
- Harness or connectors (The communications line circuit between the ECM and the TCM is open or shorted.)
- TCM
- Discharged or faulty battery
Is this a common CEL that is thrown when you do the DR Mod? If so can it be corrected & if not will I have to worry about the CEL light coming on everytime I go WOT & activate the microswitch?
Thanks again to anyone that can give me some insight. I'd really like to know if I'm going to be dealing with a consistant yellow light on my dash board because of this mod???

DR has always been plugged in, but the microswitch breaks the circuit at WOT. And yes I cleared the codes. Just havent taken the car out for another run to see if the light comes on again.
I've been doing some reading & it seems that it's common for the SES light to come on. Most people are getting the line pressure control code, but I'm getting something different. See my previous post above.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. No biggy, I'll just reach down & reset the light when I need too. Thanks again....
