repair exhaust pipe

So the pipe going in to my muffler broke at the flange - on the cat side

cat -----x F F ----- muff

F = flange
x = break

The muffler is fine, and the piping from the flange all the way back to the cat is fine...

I was hoping I could fix this at least for several months since I have other repairs to do.

I have a mapp torch, but thats it - no oxy or welding gear.

If there were a way that I could cut (I can handle cutting it) the flange off and join and seal the pipes, that would be great.

Any ideas?

mapp gas wont help. without a welder you can cut off the remaining flange and clamp on a small pipe.

give a muffler shop a call. I bet the cost of parts making the fix above is not too far from the cost of getting the pipe welded back to the flange.

I do like the fix above though, just thought i would throw that option out there.

my exhaust was broken at the other side of that same flange when i got my car, it seems to be a weak point in the exhaust for many, I just got a cattman muffler and called it a day

Just replace the B pipe, it's cheap enough and the job's done right the first time.
