The LED Light Picture Thread -Exterior-

Just wired them all up in series with respective resistors and connected them to both the parking and brake light wire from the harness??
thanks for your input, also any suggestion on where to pick up the red-orange superfluxes cheap? I've seen random people selling them on hid-planet but would like one concrete source in the event I have to order more.
Thanks,
Danny

I'm currently doing so research for making a set of LED tails. I've done 3mm, 5mm, and superflux leds throughout the interior so I have a basic understanding. I'm getting quite confused when it comes to the wiring of the tails however. You say you don't use a PWM with those tails. How do you control the brightness of the LEDs between parking lights and brake lights??

Now as far as varying brightness its fairly simple. What i do is determine the fv ( forward voltage) and mA i want to run the array at. From there i decide what left over voltage there will be. Then from the two numbers i have you can decide which resistor(s) will work best. You will also need blocking diodes doing this way to prevent feedback into the system. if you do need more help feel free to hit me on aim and we can have a back and forth convo. Nalc that goes for you also.

I had been buying them from hidplanet as well. I usually would purchase 10 bricks or so( 2000 leds per brick). That so far has been the most consitant place to pick them up from as they are dying our. The cree more than likely will take its place.

Awesome thanks. I'm gonna pick up the Leds and attempt to figure everything out but I assume I'll hit you up on AIM before I begin putting everything together.

Let me know when you decide to work on them. We're local. I have a lot of soldering equipment, test equipment, a lux meter, etc. if you need a hand with them. I might do a set as well, depending on the cost.

I'll def hit you up when I get all the parts together. I picked up a 97-99 trunk lid but still gotta get a set of Red Clears to use with them. At least doing it this way I have my original 95 tails to run during the build period.

There was a 5th gen set of tails posted up. The only bad thing about those is they have to be cut open. i can deff do them and make it look clean.
come here and see how long that no plate light lasts. You will get a ticket everytime.

Sorry to bump the old threads but I was wondering how do you guys get that smoky look on the clear signal and reverse on tails...At the moment I have clear tails but I do want to smoke them out and I am wondering whether I have to pry the tails again and do it from inside or I can just mask the red sections out and use one of those tint cans to smoke out that signal and reverse left surface..
Your input are greatly appreciated.
Thanks
