i just bought one and i wanna know how much of a weight difference is there from the cf hood and a oem hood?

 

Weigh the CF hood when you get it and weigh the OEM hood when you take it out to install the CF hood.

 

oem hood is heavy cf hood is real light

 

less

I typed in "stock hood weight" in search and selected the 4th gen forum, followed by "sort by relevancy". The thread is only 7+ years old. Not rocket science.

 

Apparently, it is for some.

 

Carbon Fiber hoods weigh less than 17 lbs. At least, the 5th gen one does... My guess is it weighed in around 7-9lbs. Nevertheless, the 4th gen one shouldn't weigh 17.

All three of my hoods weighed more the 7-9lbs.
They were right around the the 17-18lb.
Although my current VIS hood weighs a bit more Im sure, its underside is sealed up with FG unlike the other CF hood I had that had bare undersides attached the hood underbracing.
Nealoc had said a while back that his Fiber Images hood weighed in at 16lbs, and Fiber Images had the lightest hoods out.

 

Damn well the 5th gen hood I handled I picked up easily with one hand. Though, it was pretty thin, and a lot of the clear coat had worn off.

 

LOL, well 17-18lbs isnt very heavy.
I would hope you could pick that up with one hand. Thats about what my blower weighs.

 

well the hood i bought was a redline hood and is in almost perfect condition all the clear coat is still there mostly cause he garaged his max but its pretty light ima say 17 pounds souns right

 

If only there was a way to tell how much it weighed...

Ceasars_Chariot also had a Redline hood and he did weigh his and he said it was around 17lbs.
