Do anybody know any seat belt tricks to help the belt retract when you unhook it? I tried WD-40 it didn't work and another silicon spray and it made it better but didn't go all the way in I have to help it a little. So if someone know a product or which parts to lube please let me know.

Hey Tmax - I haven't had mine apart, but it's in the FSM, section RS ( Restraint system) mostly in the first 10 pages. The parts aren't to be "repaired" but I'd guess you may just need to clean it out. You'll have to remove the center pillar cover and wash all bits with alcohol. I wouldn't put WD or anything on it at first ... it may get on the belt and make it 'yucky' (tech-speak there).

 

There is a TSB about this. It says that the belt binds/sticks going through the shoulder guide on the pillar. There is a kit that has some kind of super slick stickers that you put on the guide.

I don't know if the TSBs are online for free anywhere, but that TSB is only for binding in the D-ring attached to the top of the B pillar. My seat belts bind up down at the retractor (maybe the OP's does too). I imagine the retractor is either worn out or clogged with dirt.

Can somebody who's removed the B pillar trim panel give us some hints on how to do it without breaking the clips that hold it on? I tried gentle prying with a nylon pry bar, and it didn't move at all. I'm afraid if I pry harder I'll break the clips.

 

there is a lifetime warranty on all seat belts and buckles through nissan. You might have to bug them a little to get them to replace it for sticking in the out position. I had one of my rear belts replaced for free though, no questions asked

Proof? Sterling McCall here in Houston says otherwise, it's more of a year/mileage thing, and I've exceeded the mileage part of it.

 

I don't have a current copy of the warranty, but on the Nissan.ca site, the 2003 warranty states 10 years.

 

Just clean the plastic guide above your shoulder. It gunks up and causes the belt to stick.

i have the same problem and annoys the crap out of me. both front driver and passanger are really slow to retract. please fills us in on what you did to fix it, with pics if possible. if not just a semi detail list on what you did.

thanks for the tip. Worked great for me. I had the slow retraction problem too and this helped greatly. Actually kind of disgusting how much crud was built up under there.

 

I taught mine "stay", but that's all it does.
I'm working on "rollover" and "sit" but so far, nothing.

 

BS. Anyone have an owners manual handy? It's in there...........
