00-01 exhaust on 98????

I got a 00 cat-back exhaust system for free from my brother and my wife has a 98 max with the exhaust in need of replacement. What im wondering is....are the exhaust changeable with each other?? are they bent the same just having different hanging locations????Also the muffler section doesnt matter as i have a Greddy muffler that i will be welding in at the same time.
Thanks

Jack up the car a lay the 5th gen under it, to look for (dis)similarities, you'll do better upgrading to a 2.5" system...

Won't fit, the bends are different. I had a 5th gen muffler on my 4th gen, and it had to be cut and welded to line up with my 4th gen B pipe.

Edit: didn't realize you weren't keeping the muffler. In which case, I'm not 100% sure. According to this thread, however, it doesn't seem like it will work:

Still to my knowledge (NOT DIGGING UP THE THREADS) they don't fit, the bends are different.

But I'm bored, if someone is in Houston and willing to compare/test things out, my catback can be used for science!!

finally had the chance to install the exhaust. It will fit with no modification technically. The 98 has a rear o2 sensor housing thats about 4-6inches long. You can leave it and cut that much out of the midpipe or you could remove it and install an o2 bung in the midpipe. I opted to keep it and just shortened the midpipe. all the hangers and bends were fine. I had a complete catback with a crappy muffler on it so i removed the muffler and added a Greddy EVO and looks/ sounds awsome...

So in short the exhaust would fit with little modification

I removed my rear muffler and bent up a piece for 2 inch pipe to fit in where the muffler was and it sounds good but looks standard.
