Hi,
I had a small question regarding a wire that I'm trying to pull through the firewall. From what I've seen on this forum, most people seem to pull a wire through a opening through back right of the engine compartment as shown by the arrow on the first picture. Correct me if I'm wrong, but now to access the firewall area I need to remove the left tire splash guard correct? So I tried doing that, but I noticed that the splash guard has a few plastic bolts that is not philips or flat head, shown by the arrows in the second picture.
So, now my question is, I want to remove this splash guard so I can access the firewall, but do I just yank those plastic bolts out? I tried yanking, but I didn't want to pull too hard, cuz I didn't want to break anything. How did you guys take them out? And if there is a easier way to pull wire, please let me know. Thanks for your help.

 

I use a different hole on the fire wall thats covered with a rubber grommet. Take that grommet off and it goes right into the interior of the car, no removing the splash guard

Thos plastic "bolts" are two piece, pull the inner piece a 1/4" out of the outer piece and the fastener will slip right out of the hole.

 

i would definitely just go threw the firewall, either the gromit way or drill a hole no need to make it a headache for urself. there is plenty of places to run wires on the firewall

I used this hole when I was wiring up my amp and 00VI. It leads to above the gas pedal. All I had to do was remove the rubber grommet and feed the wire through. This is not my car, but here is a picture of it:

That hole's not on all 4th gens. It was on 5 of the 7 I've owned though.

 

if you own an automatic, you can drill a hole where the clutch pedal is suppose to be. Brings you right to the firewall

 

Me and that hole have issues, it helps to feed some flexable metal through first to make a hook to pull the wire through

 

I agree with bigpopaj369 grommet is the quickest way...

 

you've owned 7 4th gens . Thats a testiment to the 4th gen appeal.


OP, what are u running wires for. What is the problem.

 

I put my amp cable though here but cannot find it on the inside of the car...HELP

 

dude use a unibit, look and check where u will drill so u dont damage anything, drill thru the firewall.

get a bunch of zip ties, cut the connector part off of the zip ties, tape them together so u have a really long zip tie.

buy some dum dum aka strip caulk...put it around the edges of the hole u drilled ( so the wire doesnt get cut from the metal, and so any water stays outside the car and not inside

now, use the really long zip tie u just made, tape 1 end of the wire to it, and use it as a snake by sticking the zip tie thru the hole, feeding the wire thru to where u can access it.

and u have a new tool for ur toolbox, and will never have to worry about snaking any wires thru anywhere and not finding them, or having them fall and u have to go find it again, because they will be at the other end of the firewall attached to ur handy zip tie tool!

 

I 've used that hole under the splash gaurd for my amplifier, wide band and transimssion temp gauges. It is much cleaner as the wire only appears under the fuse/relay box near the battery. I wrapped all the wire black so you can't tell that there are any aftermarket wires at all. Looks completely stock.

The wideband o2 wire doesn't go into the hood at all. Behind the splash guard and underneath the car.

 

FOUND IT...no drilling needed follow the pic above, when you on the inside of the car look by the gas pedal on top....just flash a flashlight and the red color will shine...THANKS GUYS
