POWER ANTENNAE MAST

Good afternoon or whichever the case may be. Can anyone give me a link or point me in the right direction to a good "How To" on antennae mast replacement for a 99 Max. I did look in the "How To" section, but saw nothing good.
Thanks

from what I remember when i changed my antenna, You have to take off the chrome nut around the antenna from the outside and then have someone turn on the radio, as soon as the antenna starts to come out, pull up on it hard and it will pop out. Just watch to see which way the teeth of the antenna comes out and install is vice versa.

I did mine today but I just went out the junkers and got an entire power antenna assembly including motor for $10. Takes a minute or two to get it out:

- Use pliers to unscrew chrome cover on old mast
- Inside the trunk under the grey cover there is two screws lower down holding the motor in. Undo these.
- Pull the antenna inside the car and wiggle out the whole assembly. You'll need to remove the jack for this
- Undo the antenna and power connector
- Installation is the reverse of removal

update...

Okay, this has turned out to be a bigger pain in the a$$ than first anticipated... I'm coming to the conclusion that just going to a salvage yard and replacing the entire assembly is going to be a hell of a lot easier than trying to replace JUST the mast I paid $40. for. I will return to Nissan tomorrow and get a whole assembly and be done with it... I hope.....

LOL

I remember feeling the same way with mine. Plus, you were getting ripped off by Nissan at $40 for JUST THE MAST!!!!

Its fiun to go to scrap yards, especially if you can find a nice Max there. You may find it saves you a ton of money over the life of the car.

Oh, and I got frustrated with getting the old Mast that was jammed in my car out, and after vice grips, pliers, etc. I got so annoyed and took a hacksaw to the power antenna where the mast retracts. Needless to say it came out then, and I felt better, but I ended up needing a whole new assembly.

Thank god for salvage yards they make it less expensive to be an impatient/stupid person.

I replaced one and had to remove the entire unit because the plastic-toothed thingy broke and most of it was still inside the housing. It was a big PITA but is doable with just basic tools.

I purchased mine from autozone. As trooplewis said above, the whole thing had to be disassembled due to the plastic teeth breaking inside of the assembly.

Lol, yeah $40. just for the mast. My **** hurt after walking out of there. I think those fartknockers put sand in the Vaseline So today I went to the local salvage yard and took out an entire assembly out of a 97 Max. Took me about 10 min. I returned the mast to the dealer and got my $$ back. I installed the new assembly in about 10 min. I paid $35.
It now works beautifully. I'm happy Now I gotta do a cat hanger, sway bar bushings and a shim kit for the rear brakes. This car has 192,000 and I have literally done nothing to it. These cars are unbelievably reliable.

Antenna Cable

Help! I replaced my power antenna assembly with an aftermarket one. Went very simply. Problem I have now is the Nissan antenna cable coming from the car is not a normal size coax or connector. IS there a cable adapter that I can get to connect the new antenna with standard antenna cable to the Nissan cable????

Thanks in Advance
