Re: There are reasons for it...

NOPI is the largest import show in America by far. It is also one of the crappiest. There is no qualifying to get in like there is with HIN, and it's cheaper to enter the show than it is to watch. The judging is done by a bunch of hillbillies who have no idea what they're doing. Big chrome rims? Come get your trophy. "Fast and the furious" big metal wing? Come on up too. Don't worry about those runs in your paint, or the overspray. You get a trophy too because your car is orange. Winning NOPI isn't exactly proof that something looks good. A lot of nice cars didn't win, while a lot of really sh!tty cars did.

And the categories do go overboard. There was no reason to split up Nissan Maximas, there weren't enough there to justify it. When you have a class with 4 people, and 3 trophies, it's not really winning.

I know you know this, but just to remind you NOPI is one of, if not the, larges car show in the USA. It ranges from luxury to sport compact to trucking to hydraulics to girls (my favorite ). They need the categories.

5000 cars, 1000 trophies. But most of the cars are clumped into the Honda/Acura classes. Those are the hard classes to win. Smaller classes like ours, it only takes 3 people to start a class. There's no reason for all these classes, it's just so people can take home more trophies and want to come back next year. I know the Meyers (owners of NOPI) and if you knew how much money they make in that one weekend, you'd see why they try to get as many cars in there as possible.

now if they only moved it closer to me, it would be nice to take home a trophy to my friends for bragging rights

Ok guys, I'm debating on whether to get those euro tail lights/lenses for my 95' GLE. Does anyone have these? If you do, please show me a pick. I'd like to see what they look on a max before I purchase them.
I fear making my max look like a cheesy civic.

Just say NO to rice!!! Leave altezzas to the cars they were named after. Besides it would look better if you replaced the orange with clear, its not as tacky. But it is your car man, to each his own.
