name some mufflers like g35 and 350z to replace my greddy

styled muffler....

Getting really bored of my exhaust. I want something better and more race sounding like, kinda like that echo sound that z and a g35 make and YES before you come in a say but but but thats a vq35 its gonna sound diff, and dual exhaust. Well i know that but i want something as close as i can get that doesnt sound like the greddy styled ones. I was gonna go for the evo2 but i am afaird that will sound to ricey.

Any suggestions apreicated. Also anyone know a fix to get rid of that under car wind tunnel sound my y pipe makes? Or is that just because budget pipes are just a bunch of suck in sound?

HKS makes a nice sounding exhaust...see my clip:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Bht_YL-UnQ

If you want a deeper sound and less rasp, get a smaller resonator or delete it completely in the B pipe.

Wouldn't getting rid of resonators cause more rasp instead of eliminating it? Just wondering since I was planning on adding a resonator to my stillen B-pipe to get rid of the bees.

Y pipes kill the sound. You need equal length pipes to get 'that' tone.

Yea I have a bunch of equal length pix. Didnt you have one? Youd think after all these years someone would have made an equal length Y again. Oh how I want one for tone alone. Supposedly my cousin talked to both Dallas and Brian years ago and there was interest. Problem is getting a test car to them and lowering cost with a group buy. Now that OBX has affordable headers its kind of a lost cause. Well even if they still make the "V2" headers. Ebay pix are not of the new design.

Stillen used to sell them, but not anymore.

Nope, I wacked a tire on the road, and the y had a small crack/leak. And it was at the time the WSP was selling big, so I bought one .

I could have just repaired the dang thing.... Now my car sounds like a dump truck..

I bought it for 250$ used about 9 years ago. Feel like

That doesn't make it a pos. It's still a good y pipe, just not equal length. The power gains are still had, but the sound isn't as good as equal length is.

thinking of putting a resi(like a resi ss b pipe) on my car. Has anyone ever seen proformence losses from it? I am dying to get rid of this raspy sound. Just sounds horrible. I dont hear it has as much unless I am next to something or somehing is in the pass side and can hear it.

I had a 2.5" Magnaflow w/o a resonator, put on a greddy sp2 with a resonator and noticed a difference in performance, not much, but it is noticeable. I dont really care since I am going 00vi in the next few months I hated the sound of the magnaflow without a resonator, hell I hate the sound of my car right now(budget y, greddy catback). I want a equal length exhaust im very picky on tone.

Why not just get a resonator welded into your bpipe?

Kinda not what you're looking and my answer may not help your cause...

All of this is IMHO

You're not going to get what you want with a muffler

The sound you're looking for only comes from an equal length Y (Stock or aftermarket).

The cheapest way:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RH6U_DGfvc

Stock Y + a 2.5" pipe afterwards. Add a resonator and a muffler and it'd be much more civil and pretty much achieve the SAME results. I've also heard maximas with exhaust leaks in the B-pipe sound exactly like G/Z's too.

More expensive way?

Cattman/OBX Equal length Y pipe with an aftermarket muffler (JSutter touched up on this).

I think Y pipe, gutted cat, and Greddy SP2 will be the closest you can get without having equal length headers. Or maybe a stock muffler from a 3.5 with 2.5" piping all the way back.

look at it and see whats not equal, its pretty obvious lol... anyways does anyone have pics of this y pipe? they were taken down. i wanna try and get one made by a reputable and competent exhaust shop.

if its not obvious yet, look at the first pipe compared to the second its like 2 times longer. this makes the rasp sound but makes production sooo much easier and purchasing cheaper. stupid dumbass stillen.
