do i need this sensor in my air filter?

someone added a after market air filter on my max and drilled a hole in the center and added a sensor i have no clue what it is but it has a 2 wire eltrical clip.


do i need it when i switch filters?

Take a pic of the sensor. It could be the IAT (Idle Air Temperature) Sensor. If it is, then you will need it if going back to stock.

well im sure its that sensor. i drove without it and it runs the same. is it ok to run without it? what does it do?

it its like this o0o going into the front (fender side) it just is a sensor to check temp. If you dont want it there, ziptie it nearby, it just needs to check temp, and doesnt have to be in mail stream of air.

I have it zip tied right next to the filter. No problems here.

it probably just gives a heads up to the ECU and lets the comp adjust a bit more quickly to differences in temp than it would without it. The O2 sensor and MAP sensor would fill in the blanks if the Intake Air Sensor were out of the loop.
