Manual Climate Control issue

I'm having a problem with my manual climate control device in my car.

I push the button that directs the blower 100% to the feet and the air ends up coming out of the defroster fans holes and no air comes out by the feet. If I push the defroster + feet option again the air only comes from the defroster area and none from the floor.

What is the cause of this problem? Do I need to look for a new one of these...?

Maybe a possibility you have a new friend living in your car?

We were trying to be helpful. You could have a critter blocking the blend door from moving. Whatever the problem is, it's with the blend door.

IIRC it's under/behind the glovebox. It's not the blend door btw, that's for the temperature change. I meant the mode door. You can move the mode door lever yourself to see if it is blocked. Also, it could be the mode door motor is failing. Don't be so sure there isn't a mouse in there...

My bad...it is behind the radio. http://www.nicoclub.com/FSM/maxima/1998/HA.pdf

Page HA-38 shows the location and the lever I mentioned.

Yes, the levers attached to the mode door motor are what you want to check for movement when you press the different vent modes. You can check the wiring at the motor plug too if you think it's a defective motor.
