Has Anyone Tried Custom Maxima's Own CatBack Exhaust??
#81
Well, the custom maxima site says most 95-96 need to buy that pipe if they dont already have it. My car doesnt have it and thats why my ebay cat back was to short. Im just wondering if thats the correct pipe?
#85
would rather not weld it. wouldnt be as clean... but if it worked for you, good.
Some 95-96 maxes already have them apparently, thats why you didnt need it im assuming.

try calling warpspeed too and see if they still sell the straight s-pipe replacement as seen here.

Edited Response: I didn't have to plug it because my 98 has the O2 sensor in the s-pipe. Apparently what you need is called a bung. The size and threads would have to match up with what the O2 sensor is.

Thanks buddy, yeah google is your friend.
You were gonna get a new "stock" y-pipe right?? I'm curious why these cat-backs sound like poo when a high perf y-pipe is added. I would like that to be one of my next mods, but am now hesitant if it is going to shart in my ear.

Yea, im keeping my y pipe stock. People say itll give too much flow, others say itll make the exhaust to loud with out ebay cat backs. You can always just get a quiter muffler if its too loud, but its up to you. I'd say its worth the power gains.

I assume a 5th gen will need some modification to bolt on to my cat back? Or is it similar to an "axle-back" that has the flanges near the axle?

Finally Got Every Exhaust Part!!!
Today when I got in my front/y pipe was waitng for me by my staircase. I planning on installing everything tomorrow; front pipe, O2 sensor, cat, resonator pipe and muffler. Of course I had some issues w/my Max today, I think the fuel pump is shot cause the fuse keeps popping. So I have to figure that out then I can do the exhaust after, can't fuuckin' wait!!!

Boom, its on thanks to Andre (321VQ35MAX)
Rode home with the silencer out, decided it was way to loud for me to drive to school haha, so the silencer stays in. I like the sound, I'll try and get a video up soon.

Nice! Can't tell by the pic if the black hides it much. Just take it out, you'll get used to the beautiful note in time. Plus, you just spent money to install a free flowing 2.5" exhaust, only to squeeze it out of a small hole at the end. Besides it being too short, how was the install?

VIDEO^^^ Can someone make it so it plays in the forums thread please
The black looks amazing. The silencer has to stay in until I'm outta high school... I seriously would get kicked outta the parking lot lol. As for the install 321VQ35MAX did the install. His names Andre, he works at a toyota dealer by me.

Just got mine today via UPS. It shipped from "cold fusion customs" which UPS abbreviated 'cold fusion'. My doorbell doesn't work, and the slip they left didn't say who it was for, so we were a little puzzled, especially since the website still said it hadn't shipped (though it's been two weeks). Luckily, my roommate was home today to assess the situation and sign for it.
I also want to clear up a thing or to that some others have posted. The system is exactly as pretty as it looks in pictures. The welds look solid, and the whole thing really looks like a decently-constructed piece. It's really shiny. Whether it holds up against rust over time, we shall see.
There is a slight crimped section behind the resonator, as some have pointed out, but it is not nearly as severe as the stock piece. I'll share some pictures after I install it.
Also, for my setup, I'm just using the intermediate piping and a 5th gen muffler since I like my car fairly quiet. Gotta maintain sleeper status. If anyone just wants the CM muffler, talk to me, especially if you're local.

I did have one problem with this exhaust system recently but it's nothing major.
Right behind the resonator where that hangar is, it broke off and took a small piece of pipe with it creating a tiny leak. I had it re-welded back on for $20.

Your car sounds GREAT with the silencer in. i wouldnt take it out at all if you are looking to make the car sound good. im not sure how much the silencer changes performance though. by the way, which ebay user did you buy it from? i am impressed

I cant remember right now, about to leave for a football game. Ill post it later tonight. and Thanks!

I just installed this system, atleast Custom Maxima's system on a third gen also, I did have to do a little cutting and welding but sounds great w/the Magna flow high flow cat , new y-pipe and k&n air filter. There's nothing out there 4 3rdgens any more, so I'm starting to use what I use on 4thgens. For the money it's a good catback, check out the 3rd gen forum, it says" just installed custom exhaust system today".

I was looking at the Custom Maxima catback for my I30 and there's a note at the bottom:
WTF is a sensor pipe? Do they mean a cat?
Trying to find either y-pipe and b-pipe with catback.. and I don't think I want to use custom maxima's muffler.. I don't want to catch too much attention. Just need to replace all the piping underneath... freaking Florida destroyed my muffler and parts of my piping has rust spots.
***Most 1995-1996 models need to buy an extra sensor pipe (center pipe). Some 97-99 might need the pipe as well. The best way to find out is to look under your Max to make sure you have it or not.

Custom Maxima catback is made specifically for 97-99s that have the sensor pipe. On 95-96 it will be too short to connect without the sensor pipe. The extra pipe connect to the cat and the catback.

Nice, thanks bro! I'm curious would they sell the sensor pipe or am I better off getting it from Nissan, AutoZone or??
