Questions about body work.

As I am now financially able, I am beginning the rebuild of the body of my wrecked 95. I need to know anything helpful about removing the front beam that the forward bumper is attached to, and the top metal cross-bar that holds the radiator in place. The entire front end is going to be rebuilt so any tips or hints would be helpful. Also, anything regarding the forward-right panel (the one that makes up the body section over the front right wheel) and how to remove or replace it would help.

I never took the front bumper cover off the car, but I did take the fender off. You would need to remove all of the splash guards underneath the car, as they are attached to the bumper cover.

You will also need to remove the fender liner inside, as that will expose several bolts that hold the fender in place.

get a copy of the FSM and go through each section at a time. It is not hard.

At a glance:

1. remove grille
2. remove headlights and side corner markers
3. remove splash shields
4. remove 3 10mm nuts on each side of the front cover
5. remove 10mm bolts on top of cover
6. remove bolts or plastic clips underneath front cover
7. remove turn signal/park lamps and foglights
8. remove front cover
remove 4 10mm nuts and 1 10mm bolt and remove center retainer
9. remove 4 12mm nuts to remove front reinforcement
10. remove 8 10mm bolts to remove fender (three on top, 1 in front, 2 on side by the hinge pillar, 2 underside)

hope this helps

are u replacing the lower rad support due to rust? its possible to repair the section that gets rotted out where the front of the crossmember bolts too. I've done it on several Maximas using 90deg corner beam molding, long lag bolts and washers. $40 or less

Thanks guys.

MR2, no, I'm just removing all the outside parts to replace them as they've been damaged in a wreck. however the upper radiator support, the crossmember that has your hood lock, etc attached to it, is bent and coming out as well.

my concern is the steel beam that makes up the lower front end (under the bumper) could be bent and need replaced. and i still need to figure out how the panel that goes over the wheel well comes off too..

Also, there is nothing in my manual about body work. All about the engine. So it's not much help :\
