Hey all,

I have a 1999 Nissan Maxima SE that is in desperate need of a new keyless entry remote. I know they are pretty expensive from a dealer, so I'm wondering if there is a better option. If you can recommend the best place to get one, I'd be greatly appreciative.

Many auto parts stores carry them now. I was just looking to get a pricing quote for my '95 the other day. They range from $49.99 on up.

Get a used one off eBay, it's definitely the way to go. I got one for $15 shipped off there and it worked just fine.

Search the 4th gen forum to find out how to program it. It's fairly simple, that's what I did.

+ 1 for eBay. I bought a used one off there almost two years ago and haven't even had to buy a new battery for it yet.

It's not so much the key that's expensive (you can find those for $12), it's the programming. That can be $50 or more. If money is a big issue and security is not, you could stick your old key fob inside your steering colum next to the ignition and buy any $2 Maxima blank.

I believe you a referring to a key with a security chip in it whereas the OP is looking for a keyless entry remote. Programming a new remote is free and easy.
