Help! Gas door stuck.

Hi,

This morning I had to do a fill-up and when I pulled the gas lever I heard a little pop (thinking that the gas door opened) but it didn't. It seems that the level must of broken off the cable and the gas door no longer opens..I tried opening it with my hands but it was no use..anyone know how I can manually open the gas door?
I drove to work and need to find a solution before I leave...

Thanks

do you feel tension when you pull the release? Mine has done this a few times, I just take a small flat head and wedge it open.

No, there is no tension at all.
I can use my car keys to force it open (with a cloth) but I'm scared to brake off the gas door or something if I use too much force..

Go in the trunk and pull the carpet back. You should be able to get to the mechanism.

The cable of where it connects to the gas lever was rusted out and the cable just snapped. Going thru the trunk (remove the carpet) there was the cable. I removed it and created myself a little pull level (only accessible thru the trunk) to open the gas door.

Because I live in salt-city Montreal, I was surprised on how much the gas lever was rusted. You can't really see until you look under that gas lever.

Buyers beware, local pick up recommended. Slow to ship out items already paid for.

I have a different problem. my gas door does release but it doesnt bounce open. I thought the hinge was too tight cuz there seemed to be some tension there and wd-40'd it with no luck. the door moves more freely but still doesnt bounce open like before.

There's suppose to be a spring clip that probably fell off.
