Possible to make a aftermarket headunit FLUSH with dash ON 97max???

Im sure that you guys have been asked this question 100x but i have searched and haven't found anything on it. I have a 97 maxima se and want an after headunit to look as stock as possible. I bought a new Alpine with a V12 and MTX amp, 12" sub, polk speakers, etc., and was going to install it myself. The only problem is that Circuit City hooked me up with a dash kit that makes the headunit stick out about a 1/2 inch. It also comes with a tray that goes under it. My question is... is there anyway to make that alpine sink back into the dash a little? Any better kits on the market that i can buy?

Thanks

Actually, this rarely gets asked about. All of the mounting kits that I have seen cause the HU to stick out a little bit. You'll have to create custom mounting brackets that hold the HU further back in the dash. You can then take the opportunity to create a custom trim ring for the HU that looks nicer than the ones that come with the kits.

i was looking for the same extact thing you were, i am actually even more bit**y. I wanted a headunit that was flush and matched the interior color scheme at night. What i came down to was the 1yr old alpine cd players and the Nakamichi cd-40z, the nak i think would fit the flushest of all aside a nissan stereo. I also considering just buying like a 98 or 998 head double dint head unit and not worry about stuff like that. As far as to answer ur question i have not found ANY kits that make it more flush with the dash, it just get me so pi**ed when little things like this make it look so fugly
