Before I confirmed the ghost code 1320, I heard it in my idle. Smooth at ~650-700 (5spd), then an occasional, nearly imperceptible miss. So subtle that I thought, bad gas? any tune up neglect? etc. until I knew deep down it was likely a coil pack. 99, of course. I replaced the rear 3 (firewall side)w/oem about two years ago, so I'm guessing front.
Re performance, it's intermittent. Trying to avoid any real load until I get this figured out, but when unavoidable, at times she runs flawless, but on one occasion, it caused the SES to shine its beacon of evil light. Cleared it, but the ghost 1320 remains.
Ran an ohmmeter, get the infinity reading for the #1 pos, #2 neg, as expected. reverse it and get 14.1 on one, 11. on two.
Like sesame street, one of these things is not like the others.
Haynes no help, it just says I should get a value. Great.
The Question: Does anyone have consistent test results of good coil packs when the reverse test is performed.
I have to think there is a qualitative difference that point to symptoms/approaching failure when various readings within the 11-14 ohm range come up. I checked the old rear coils I replaced, they each came up w/readings of ~14. Did I waste money replacing, or is the 14 number sign of imminent failure? No, b/c when I replaced the rear 3, i had the blinking SES misfire code, and their replacement cured all, until now.
I've tried various searches by relevancy on this issue (per pmohr advice), but can't find any examples of actual ohmmeter readings more specific to ~11 - ~14 ohms as the spec for a good coil pack.
