I found removing the cross member for easier access and it also allows for engine movement which also helps. Semi-no brainer.

Patience so you don't strip anything.

The majority of us have done them with jack stands and a standard set of sockets/extensions.

Crows feet came in handy for me.

Yup. Removing the IM is the approach I took as well.

Good advice here too. I didn't remove the cross member when I did mine, but I've read this very same advice time and time again. +1 on the patience too.

Be sure to close the garage door too, or crank the radio up if you're outside, as lots of explicative words will be spewing from your mouth. LOL

Not mandatory by any means, but I agree that a lift would make things a whole hell of a lot easier. Now that I have a lift in my garage, I feel like putting headers on my daily driver Max just because...

o2 sensors. Well, I think thats what sized I used for my o2 sensors..

In addition to what everyone else mentioned sans the lift, pull the rad fans, its not necessary but it gives you more room to work in.

still no 22 but, my mom bought an O2 sensor tool and i found a 14 deep well for the 1/2" socket. Y-pipe is off but, new one won't align with the old EMs so tonight the IM is coming off and hopefully the front EM also. Front manifold I'm using a 1/4" Craftsman Socket to get the nuts off and just using a towel to keep from cutting myself on the fans. Planning on finishing up tomorrow, but could finish sunday also.

I think they're Spyder but, i never ordered them, they were drop shipped to my house and had no return address or information about them other than that they were for the 4th gen Maxima 3.0. My car has a knock-off Megan racing catback i got on ebay, Injen CAI, and custom enterprises HFC, so it already sounds good but, I've never listened to one with a similar setup.

AC condenser line is in the way, I'm not giving up but, I don't have the ability to leave the engine apart like that until my other car is back from the paint shop and i can afford to not have the Maxima running for a few days.

Pics? I know since we all have different models the lines are different, but for my 99 AC lines were the least of my worries.

yeah, i can definitely see the line getting in the way of one of the bolts (i have issues getting around that line sometimes), but its doable. U just gotta hold your tongue the right way.

What type of header are you installing? I just installed the XS Power Short headers and a Warpspeed Y pipe. They both don't fit well together so I welded on a flex section on my Y pipe.

I did all of that while I had the intake manifold off of the car as well as the motor mounts, etc.

I welded a small flex section to the Y pipe and now it fits perfectly. I could've gotten away with just cutting/welding the Y Pipe, but the flex section would make removal easier (if I need to remove and perform maintenance).

who is good at installing cattman exhaust systems in the southwest?

I've heard that other exhaust systems don't fit as well as cattman. Whats the word on the forum?

Cattman used to be known for excellent fitment and finish....not so much anymore. A small percentage of people have had to open the bolt holes on thier headers to make things fit..nothing major.

Fitment on his catback is hit or miss....For me, BOTH catbacks I bought from him fit horribly
