AC blower motor - Stuck on Removal *See Image*

By blower motor is intermittently not starting. I have to tap on it to make it work sometimes I want to try to clean it, then replace it if necessary. But I'm stuck on removing it from behind the glove box.

There is a strip of plastic covered by a strip of metal that runs along under the space for the glove box. I removed the metal, but I still I can't get the blower out. **See image below**

Who has done this? How do you get the thing out? Thanks!

Remove the metal span and break off the plastic span if that plastic is getting in your way. Its thin and doesn't support much weight, plus you can put the metal part back on when your done.

I replaced the AC evaporator a while ago and ended up breaking that plastic span off to get the evaportor box out from the dash.

No you don't have to break off anything. If you look at your picture towards the lower right corner, you will see a nut on the corner of your dash. What you have to do is loosen up the corner of the dash and pull it out so the fan will come out. You already have the kick panel off, you will have to take the sill plate off (has 'pop' clips, pull up on it)and then pull the trim welt that goes around the door opening off til you clear the dash.

I removed that corner dashboard bolt, other bits of hardware from the dash, and the kickplate / door sill. Still didn't have enough room to clear the evap box out from the plastic. Ended up cutting off that plastic and the box came right out.

However I ddn't try to get the blower motor out but I will have to eventially as the blower motor is making alot of noise lately.

Thanks. The above worked for me. I didn't want to cut anything unless absolutely necessary. Once I removed the corner dash nut, I was able to get enough room to remove the blower motor and replace it with a new one from rockauto.
