Stupid P0505
Stupid P0505
Sooo i have this annoying IAC code and it won't go away. I pulled the sensor and cleaned the .25" thick carbon build-up off of it and made it all pretty, put it back on and here now 2 weeks later the code is back and the sensor still looks like I just cleaned it. I really don't feel like paying $200+ for a new one so any other suggestions as I've exhausted all the options that I've researched.
cleaning it doesnt mean mechanically its fixed. It jus means its breathin a lil better.
The sensor is prolly sticking a lil. Any driving issues like stalling or hesitation???
New IACV prolly solve all that man.

That is a motor, not a sensor. The FSM outlines how to test the windings with an ohmmeter, but you can also remove the IACV stepper motor from the IACV housing and turn the key from OFF to ON. The FSM states that it should move in and out. If it doesn't, then check the windings. If the windings on the motor are good, check the harness back to the ECU.
there's no hesitation or anything like that but the idle is a bit higher than usual.. but i'll dig up my fsm and see about these windings i suppose.. but from the looks of it it might be time for a new one.
