i paid $20 from ebay for my knock sensor, took me 30 min + swearing to install it. i didn't need any special tools only a swivel socket, 12 mm(i think) socket and ratchet.

i wasn't a fun install but only because it was very tedious, it was just one bolt tho.

Replaced my sister's 96's KS yesterday. I used the method I'd used when I did mine, which was to crack it with a box wrench and a screwdriver against the intake manifold for leverage, then use a socket and a hundred extensions. Went smoove like butter and I had the thing out and replaced in ~15min.

I forgot to plug it in, though, and she was leaving on a road trip while I was at work. I made her this engineering drawing to explain where to plug it in. It is very helpful and you may all use it to guide your own knock sensor installation, should you forget what the engine bay looks like.

GOt an evap solenoid control valve that's about the size of my pinky for $106 from Oreiley's I put on myself and priced MAF's and no matter where u look $572! Are u guys drunk? THis is not a joke! This is calling parts stores, all different mechanics, no dealerships involved. THese are the facts, not opinions. If u guys think i'm getting, grab a phone book in Oklahoma and call any parts store u want and see if i'm exageratting. I know this is a MAxima club and u guys try to sugarcoat things to make it look better, but this car is costing me an arm and a leg and now I have a chugging problem that i've already invested almost $1000 into and it still isn't fixed and noone can help!
My starter cost me about 120 and took about 30 min to take out the old one and install the new

And if u gota pay to get yours put on then u must not like working on cars at all

Do you change ur own oil at least?

Overall I haven't spent more than the kbb resell value of my car... If anything, I was jipped by Sears on the struts that were GOOOD! when all I needed to replace was the mounting brackets that were making the rattling... FU^#$&*G cost me a good $600 for new struts, brackets, and alignment. but never again!

Radiator (Napa) : $120
Starter (Autozone; replaced 4 times due to faulty alarm unit) : $120
Alternator (Autozone; just went bad last month after 250,000 miles) : $160
KS/Knock Sensor (Autozone; plus got 2 free replacements) : $124
A/C & P/S Belt (Autozone) : $18 & $19
IACV (Junk yard) ; $7
EGRC, EGRSolenoid valve and any other "thumb sized valves" (junkyard) : pocketed
Fog Lamp and bracket (junkyard) : $5
My Own Rebuilt Axles with Labor & Alignment (Paul's Underbody) : $234

Besides the axles, I did it all myself

And if you ever need help dude, I've been able to tackle most of the problems that nobody else could figure out... For example, that P0443 could be something as simple as the Gurdungit hoses being on backwards!

We're a happy bunch, and happy to help out a fellow orger... most of the time....

Nissan parts are no high in comparison to other imports, not to mention, Japanese cars for the most part are of higher quality than American cars.

If you think Nissan parts are high, check out MB parts. Use Car-Part dot com and ebay. You'll get great deals.

parts are not really expensive as they are obsolete, i spent 200.00 on a new fuel pump for mine. My only gripe, is there is not alot of aftermarket parts for my 3rd gen Maxima. Ive been combing the web for weeks now looking for anything that could jazz up my cars appearance. Ive got an all original 93 Maxima, as stock as it came out of the factory in 93.
