First Full OBX System On A/J Chassis

it's deafinitely the muffler giving you that little rasp but its not bad, maybe sell that muffler and try a diffrent one out.. if you would have left in the stock cat and ditched the resonaters i bet it would have been a little less raspy/quiter like my set up

I think Im gonna end up keeping the setup. PPl did say it sounds different in cabin but its a "good" rasp. (thus g35 ish) I keep getting the same compliments so it stays.
Oh and Jim, raincheck on the BBK. Trying to use my bracket as a template to make a whole batch made.

that sounds very good, exactly what i want out of a vq! much better than this **** rasp garbage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xiAT3QuVLng. so you get the rasp of the test pipe and the rasp is accented by the terrible tone of an unequal y pipe and stock, unequal shorty headers. you could've edited the 2 min warm up lol, i sat there for a whole minute before fast farwarding
i've got WS SS y and 2.5" magnaflow high flow cat and an ebay SS mandrel bent, resonated cat back. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0y98h5PJbA&feature=plcp there's absolutely no rasp at all but i don't like the tone, nothing like a g35 but sounds much closer to an american ohv v6 lol. the idle is nice n burbly though. if you have a stock cat with an aftermarket y and cat back it will be raspy. its a 2.5" much higher flowing collector going into a 2 or 2 1/4" cat and then exiting through a 2.5" cat back. i believe the smaller cat between both 2.5: pieces is creating rasp. all you need is a same size cat as the rest of your single pipe exhaust or a same size high flow cat.
i've done extreme researching on exhaust so i can make my car sound as close to a 350z/g35. i knew any vq, regardless of intake manifold, engine size or engine layout should sound similar so i got to searching. all you REALLY need is an equal y pipe. you can keep the stock y pipe (more equal than current aftermarket y's but not as equal as the cattman or obx) and straight pipe it back and it sounds pretty nice http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSG9d...eature=related but yields little gains because he hasn't touched anything before the cat.
you could also get a cattman setup with matching headers or the obx v2 system and make it sound 90% like a 350. infinimax96 has some sick in car vids of him racing where you can truly hear the sound of headers and equal y pipe (obx v2) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Mmzjov17rc
and cattman's http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFOKnm5LBqU here this guy is still running a stock b pipe with the smaller diameter piping and a huge quiet resonator so its not fully uncorked. once he gets a new muffler and b pipe it'll sound a lot more like the v2 setup on infinimax96's car.

Its pretty well known by most on here that I have cold start issues so I made that last sound clip specifically to highlight the exhaust note change from cold to warm....
Fly by and in cabin sound clips are within this thread.
And yeah, going = length is the way to get it to sound more RWD VQish.

does your start up issue involve:
rough start followed by a slight rough idle w/ no readable afr's for the first 2 minutes at like 1100rpm and then slides up to 1200 rpm (@ 2:58 in your vid) where afr's go from unreadable to 14.7 within a matter of about 10 secs?

DE-k. Been running pig rich ever since I went 3" back. EMU tune coming up soon. And no my idle is just really low at first. Gotta gas it a bit upon startup to let it catch (cold) and let it warm up. Startup idle=550...warm idle=750-800. Once its warm all day, it wont need to be gassed upon startup.

lol oh well. thats weird how it goes rich after installing a more flowing exhaust on a stock ecu... the tune will make a world of difference considering all the mods on it already. gonna make some dyno vids? i'd love to hear it under load with the v2's and 3"

Dyno vids yeah but later on. No time soon. As soon as I get my tags right, I'll take her out for a spin with a bumper mounted cam so you can hear her under load.

It's why I drive back to KS once a year... Well one of the reasons anyways
SHORT RAM IN CALI?! Tch tch tch. Better be CARB legal.
A guy (2-slow-50) from Cali moved over here and he's flipping out over the fact that you can have intakes and exhaust on your car and still pass, basically you can do anything that won't trip a CEL and you're good.
We're sooooo off topic... WE DEMAND VIDZZZZ

Back in my old thread again. Bought a 3" SP2 to frankenstein it together to this setup. Swapped the can out yesterday. Highly fucckin disappointed....

IDK whether to keep going from here and add the SP2 resonator too or cut my losses now rather than hacking it up and killing resale value more than I already have....
Dont wanna go back to the OBX Forza although its the best balance of proper fitment and sound.

Shiit I forgot to update this. Threw the SP2 resonator on as well. Results:

Cam phone mic aint the greatest at picking it up....not to mention being against a wall. Will try for another video over the weekend. Overall, Im pretty satisfied. In a nutshell, can for can, OBX Forza>SP2. Yes I cant believe Im saying it either. The Forza sounds damn near the same way by itself. I can only imagine if I swapped the muffler back on leaving the SP2 res on
