intermittent lost of steering power - PS belt?

this is going to be a bit difficult to explain. i am experiencing an intermittent lost of steering power if you will. it's like an intermittent tiny fraction of a second feel in a cycle of off/on if you will. it does not feel like a vibration. do you think it's the PS belt?

I had a car a few years back that the power steering would lose the power assist for a second or so. It was a loose belt. If you still have the original belt, it's possible you could have a loose belt and maybe even need to replace it. Here is a link to a video about replacing the belt which also shows how to adjust it.

Is the fluid topped off with Dexron III or higher? Low fluid will cause a pulsation (chatter).

Yes, very weird. How long has it been leaking? Where do you think it is leaking from?

Chances are that its not visible to him. It is at the pump itself. I am also losing power steering but only when I parallel park and the car is warm. At cold, it works fine. Plan to replace the pump itself. If the belt was lose, wouldn't it make a squealing noise?

Probably your rear valve cover leaking onto the pump and lines.
