whats the deal with seafoam. run it thru the gas tank like crc?

i have a little under a half tank now. i was thinking of letting the car idle a while and drive it around the block for a while a couple of times before doing the emissions test with either one of those three products above ^ i just wonder what can help the best with that short of an amount of gas going thru. because... since i cant drive legit its too risky. ugh

1/3 of seafoam can through gas tank, 1/3 through oil, and suck last 3rd through the break booster. Let it sit for 10min then run it and drive it. After 100miles change the oil. Do this every 15k-25k miles.

I wouldn't run even 50 miles with that stuff in the oil.

It's suggested you run 50-150 miles. So obviously I went in between. Been doing it for years on lots of different vehicles and haven't had a problem to date.

just for the record --it doesn't go thru the booster--just the vacuum port on the intake that goes to the booster.--use 3/8" dia. hose from port to can--maybe 18 in. for best positioning of can.

Hi,

Also rev it up well to 4k for a while before you go to get the CAT good and hot, also and drive as hard as you can to the inspection to keep itas hot as possible.
All catalysts have what is called a "light off temperature" for Platinum it is about 600Centigrade, for Palladium it is about 550Centigrade, below that temp they do nothing, and hotter than that they work better.

will do thanks for the tip/info! how long you think i should rev it up for each time at 4k?

some local members suggested when the tank is just below quarter... toss in 6 of those small bottles of gasline antifreeze w/o water remover into the tank run it for 5-10 mins and go for the test. im thinking ill try this

My 97 just passed inspection in NJ 209,000. I added the CRC formula for a tank and the P1400 & P0420 (catalytic) would stay away for 80 miles and come back. Next I added techron fuel injection and I got the check engine light to stay off for 135 miles. The CEL stayed off long enough to pass. The car failed the first time because I reset the CEL and only drove a few mile before I got to the inspection station. He said drive it for 200 miles and come back. 135 miles was enough to get all the systems to report good and pass.
Also be sure the gas is 93 octane or higher if you got it around.
By the way the CEL came back one day after the inspection. 2 more yrs on the sticker and still getting 29mpg in the summer, I'm good.

i have a quarter tank left
i picked up fuel injector cleaner and... gasline antifreeze... with bittering agent but not the one with water removal.
i didnt put any fuel injector cleaner in, as i dont think its a good idea to mix that with the gasline antifreeze??!?!?!

do you guys think the gasline antifreeze might be fine on its own to do the trick to make it pass (when i add it when the tank gets a bit lower)

Or, should i also add 25ml of fuel injector cleaner now run it through this quarter tank, to close to empty, add the gasline bottles, and take the test?
basically need to know if you guys think its a bad idea to mix the gasline antifreeze with the little bit of gas and fuel injector cleaner together when i take the test.
