Noob question about car alarm

Hi noobie me here again. I am wondering. I have a 1997 maxi 5 speed SE. And i see that security light blinking. I assume the security system is still intact.

My question is if it is possible for me to buy something like another remote and program it myself (not sure if this is possible) or get some professional to program it, would it work?

*Off topic*

Also i need a white passenger side mirror.(right side mirror) help me out please.

Cool now here is my other noobie question. What if i wanted remote starter can buying the remote work or would i have to get an aftermarket alarm system installed with that feature? And if i need the aftermarket again can i do this myself?

stock remote will only work with the stock alarm system. if you want a remote starter you'll have to get the whole new system and use the aftermarket remote to enable the remote starter feature

It's a bit tricky, but can be done if the installer is good and knows what he's doing.

I have remote start on my 5spd and my auto.

And it's worth a mention to park it in Neutral and use your ebrake. I'm in the habit of parking in gear with ebrake, but I've known 2 people who parked it in gear and F'ed up their body kits when it lurched forward and hits something. One guy hit a person in the parking lots and hurt him.

Heed this warning

if u gonna get a remote start, then u might as well remove/replace the stock system.

adding security to remote start is only 30 bucks more or so. Thats less than what the dealer will charge to reprogram stock alarm.

Get a viper alarm
