Wet drivers side floor

Well I have owned my maxima for a really long time and never got water in the cabin before. I had a trunk issue when I first bought the car but since fixed

Had a little rain over the past couple of days and the drivers side floor mat is wet along with the carpeting. What do you guys think. I Know it can be a ton of things but I looked up from underneath and all the dust is all undisturbed like water wasnt running down it. The top of the mat and the floor carpet is wet.

Car does have a sunroof

I just went out to the car and both front corner drains are clogged with sticks and grime. Could this be the issue ?

I just dont understand that if those drains are clogged, how does the water make it onto the drivers side flood

Both front drains were completely clogged. Cleaned them out and its all flowing now. One still had water on the top before I unclogged it.

Can someone connect the drain not draining, to getting water on the drivers side floor? I just can't connect the two

Thanks
Matt

I am having the same issue, and I believe it is due to the sunroof.

It only happens when it rains hard for a while, my drivers side floor and mat become wet.

I also have wetness and water stains to the left of the drivers side sun visor.

This all leads me to believe it is the drain tube. My next step is dropping the headliner and inspecting the hose.

Matt, the sunroof frame will over flow if the drains are clogged.
The water will go down the front pillar and wind up on the floor.

Ok. Both front drains were clogged up bad. One still had water backed up when I checked it. I flowed some water through both and they are all four flowing good.

I hope that was my issue. No water on the headliner nor down the piller. Weird

This happened to my AE a few years back. Blew the drains out with compressed air, problem fixed.

I'm having the same problem but I don't have a sunroof.

After any rainfall or washing the car I have a lot of water on the driver side. It's not just a little wet, it's a lot of water (I had to vacuum it out at times). I brought it to a mechanic, but so far has failed to find the problem 3 times.

I would check the door seals and see if they are cracked or damaged.

Well I just drove in a good downpour and the drivers side floor is back to be wet. I got under there with a flashlight and there is no visable water marks coming from the firewall area which would indicate a windshield leak.

I think its coming from underneath when I drive...possibly a pin hole somewhere

This is my next step too. I didnt find any issues with the sunroof drains, so I am thinking its the door seal.

Mine only happens when it rains really really hard for a length of time.

make sure the hose didnt pop off when you put it back on, this happened to me before, the hose likes to swell out and loose its tight fit on the drain, check the drains again, put alittle super glue on the drain nipple and then make sure the hose is secured on there, have you had a windshield replaced recently??

Well I think I found the problem. After getting the floor nice and dry and cleaning the sunroof drains, I was on my way home and got into a downpour on the highway. I got home and checked the floor and of course it was wet again.
I found the corner of the floor board was seaping water where a rust spot has started. (this area is where the water drains from the upper cowel after it comes off the windsheild) Well I ground it down and made a hole in the floor. REALLY NICE !! I added a piece of sheet metal. Hopefully Ill be dry now. Heres some pics.

Where I patched is actually a spot where a lot of water lays and pools up. It actually makes sence cause when I first noticed the water my car was sitting in the driveway during a long storm. The water pooled and leaked into the car. I then dried it out and got in a brief storm at highway speeds. That was a ton of water going off the windshield into the cowel and left some water on the floorboard, but def not alot.

I know this is mad old but would you have these pics handy in 2021? My floors are a mess this week. I can't keep putting towels under the carpet.
