HELP!! PLZ Nostart no crank no nothing
I know so much about Maximas and i thought i would never have to post on here again but i did a dek swap and i drop the motor and transout at the same time and left the starter and everything attached i put it str8 into a 4thgen and hooked everything up .i get in turn the key and absolutely nothing happens when i turn the key to start it, everything else works fine all acc .any ideas ??? oh its a 5thgen trans and starter ive used a 5thgen trans before and did the wiring so i nothats not it and i swithed the pnp switch over from the 4thgen trans..........will a 5thgen starter work on a 4thgen engine harness????

That's a good question about the starter, not sure on that. Do the interior lights, illumination, etc. shut off when you try to start it? May have a loose ground somewhere. Is the security light on?

The electrical hookup to the starter is the same for 4th gen and 5th gen. Thick cable from the battery and thin wire from the ignition switch. The 4th gen uses 2 relays to get the power from the ignition switch to the starter solenoid (thin wire.) The 5.5 gen uses 1 relay. I don't know if the plastic connector is the same for the solenoid wire.

So what should i check I checked the starter sig fuse and wheres the ign relay..........Oh and 1 more thing when i put the key to the on position and go under the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable usually i hear the relays click as i touch the cable to the neg post on batt when when i do this i hear absolutely nothing..........I tried this in my moms 4thgen and all relays and stuff under the hood clicked the egi relay click along with alot of other ones.....and her car start right up.

bad starter
ignition switch
bad battery
poor engine ground
corrosion on the battery terminals
fuse
is the car in park when you try to start it? Neutral safety switch?
I don't know the answer about the 5th gen starter, but I am guessing a multimeter would answer that question.

I got the starter tested and it worked, didnt try the ignition switch yet and never had a problem with it ,i clean the engine ground, and brand new batt only 2 months old.......i switched the pnp switch twice and and i think the starter will work i put a 4th gen starter on and i dont even get a click from that either

will the car start by manually bypassing the starter signal (grounding the starter)? I am not really suggesting you do this for safety reasons, but I have done this before to make cars start if the key will not turn the starter over.
*Disclaimer*
^^This will not fix your problem but if you have to have the car started it may get you out of a bind.
*also, have you tried charging you battery? I know you said it is new, but it would not hurt to make sure it has a full charge.*

Yes i just finished doing this its like its not getting any ign signals from anywhere no gas or anything my fuel pump doesnt even prime ussually it buzzes but nothing i just checked that

Did you check the fuses under the hood? There is one labeled IGN SW that feeds the ignition switch. The ignition switch then feeds a lot of other things and the fuel pump and starter are among them.
