Oh the recent exhaust video? that was bad?? haha it runs like a champ besides that small exhaust leak that makes some noise. Definitely faster

The flange where the muffler and B-pipe meet. It's a very small leak due to how rusted it is

remove the stud ring (If this is an OEM Muffler) and dremel the bolt holes out slightly to install the stainsteel cat gasket between the two and cure you problem.... Or have a muffler shop cut both flanges off and install two new flanges....or get yourself a new Bosal (NAPA) Oem replacement exhaust system...no matter what it's a simple fix! Once you fix that you're really feel your car pull harder since there's a disturbance in the exhaust flow with that leak!

Gotcha, the muffler has a lifetime warranty from meineke and since I don't have a dremel or sufficient tools we're just going to take it there and ask them to do it for free. I wonder how much of a gain there will be, it's quite small of a leak but I'll see. Thanks

Big bump...after a few months I believe there is now another leak. Ive been away, and my parents said one day it was quiet and the next day its making a lot of noise. It idles fine so my guess is the gasket at the y-pipe and cat is done.

Is there a gasket sealant anyone recommends? I'm not home so I can't fix it so it would require shelling out cash for them to fix this and Im sure more problems will inevitably come.

hight temp orange is MADE for gaskets like that. Although I dont know why you would use RTV anyways, eventually it will fail

the mating surface. I didn't read the whole thread to see if you used the OBX gasket.

I re-used the OEM and applied a lot of RTV

The fix is using OEM SS gaskets Order some and you'll be good till the end of time! That exhaust RTV is BS and a waste of time, Buy yourself a few OEM cat gaskets and call it the day! I've using the same cat gasket for 9 years no problem yet

Might as well buy OBX Equal Length Headers

Bump, does anyone know if OEM gaskets will work with these? My gasket is going out where the front header and Y-Pipe connect

Went to a Midas and a mechanic told me I need the aftermarket gaskets. He said I could try tightening the bolts more to seal it

So I have aftermarket headers + Y-Pipe, and a stock exhaust. will an OEM cat fit?

Thats what I did too and im more than satisfied with the gains(only butt dyno as of yet lol) and sound from the Y only set-up. Im going to take my car to get it tuned here in a few days and ill be able to say exactly how much I gained with the NWP spacers and the Cattman Y.
youre gonna get a tune for the spacers and y? do you have an intake, or 2.5" or 3" catback too? or any other bolt ons? just curious.

I have quite a few things under my sleeve lol but decided to wait on the tune, AEM FIC, until I have the time/money to install the v2. If it takes much longer I am just going to get a SAFC in the mean time because I am running more rich than I would like ATM. In the process of replacing most of my ignition system and should be done by the end of today. OEM colis cost mucho deniro

Honestly the best opption if you have the money. They can do it in a few hours where as it would take you a day, possibly 2 with hand tools

Is the OEM gasket a circular crush gasket? Im not sure if its supposed to work with my aftermarkets. Aftermarkets came with a triangle. Should I use both triangle and circular gaskets?

Bump, sorry to interrupt your convo guys I'd just really appreciate an answer. There is just no groove on my Y-Pipe to put the OEM circle gaskets in.

What you need is a 2" (or 2.25" I don't remember the diameter off hand) 3 bolt gasket for the ypipe.

ok thanks

Well sheez, one of the three bolts on the header I snapped in half because the nut was cross threaded, so didnt even bother taking off the y-pipe

Im just going to send it into a shop and have them make gasket and replace it, I'm pretty tired of my hand tools and having no space to work on my car

So I am going to replace the front exhaust manifold gasket since these felpro ish blows. I'm going to go with Beck/Arnley multi-layered gaskets since they are OEM replacement. I think they should fit.

So procedure I have in mind
1) Remove positive battery cable
2) Remove coolant hoses
3) Remove radiator fans
4) Undo Y-Pipe. Not replacing these gaskets since I dont want to and believe they were already replaced
5) Undo 6 bolts on header
6) Reassemble it all

Going to soak the hell out of the 6 header bolts with WD-40, since I dont want busted bolts. However, they didnt break last time so hopefully Ill have the same luck here.

Any tips?

Oh yeah hopefully will have access to lift this time which will make life so much easier

Going to get a U-joint to get the bottom three header bolts since I used one of my friend's last time

i got them and i stil got them on my car. u feel the diff from the gett. the only problems i had were:
1 my holes for the back header were off. they were twisted about 1/4 inch so i just slated them. make the hole go right out to the edge of the flange. so bascly the bolt could just slide on to it.
2. were the down pipe sits it hits the oil pan so i had to smash it in alittle bit. but went well i like alot. when i do my motor swap im buing a new set. and giving these ones to my boy who just bought a max

Word, gracias sir

Bump, gasket was fixed awhile ago and that's solved

Now, there is this odd and loud exhaust rattling at 2500-3000rpm when gassing it. And when I let off from high rpms back down to idle I hear the same sound in that RPM range.

Notes:
- EGR is cloggeed
- Cat. is old (rusted)
- Y-Pipe slightly rusted, flex pipe looks fine. I think it's coming from there though (stainless steel my ****)
- Don't think it's a gasket, doesn't have the puffy, muffled sound of a gasket leak. Just a metal rattling
- And I'm missing the metal exhaust brace to hold up the exhaust lol. Hangers are all there though

I had a 200sx and the cat was falling apart inside. It sounded just like a heat sheild rattling. I actually removed almost every heat sheild on the car before I realized it was the cat. Lol.

^ Oh ok, thanks. The cat it is!

Bump, so I'll now have time to fix her up. Am about to order the Cat from PartsTrain but I noticed this cat doesn't have the O2 sensor port. Do I need to have one with the port? There was one from Advance Autos, but it's 180...yeesh. Input?

OEM should fit eh? Y-Pipe --> Cat --> Stock exhaust?
