Help with window problems!

Okay. So the back driver side window decided to stop rolling up about a month ago. I've been holding it up with some good ole duct tape til tonight... the other back window did the same thing. It will pull down when i hit the button, i can hit the button to roll it up and it just makes the noises of the motor moving and a clicking noise. when "rolled up" the window moves completely freely. So my question is: Is it a part that needs to be replaced or did something just come undone? And why on both back windows? How much will this cost for parts/labor (if i lack the time, skill, or tools to repair it)?

Anyone else with this problem?

EDIT: The power lock on the rear driver door does not work either. I'm not familiar with the electronics... so any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I'm assuming it's the regulator... but i would like some insight and other opinions first. and hopefully a way to repair instead of swapping out parts!

the clicking sound like the regulator metal wire has gotten off track or broken(I had that happen on my moms old car.) Both back windows just sounds like bad luck on your part. just pull of the door panel and move the window up and down and see what going wrong in there.

I'm 99% positive the plastic inside the window motors cracked. Just buy a new motor & regulator combo off of ebay, Shouldn't run you more than $45 shipped for each side. You can verify this by popping off the round metal cover off with a screwdriver.

As for the power lock, I would make sure that the window switch is plugged in on that door. If the window switch is not plugged in, the power lock on that door will not work.

theres been a ****load of thread about this recently...

in my car, i got lucky enough that my motor came apart, instead of actually breaking. so when i pulled my door panel off i could fix it(a bolt came out and fell to the bottom of the doorshell). im guessing this happened due to my system but one day my window was just free, like you said. hopefully yours is fixable too.

I never even thought about that... but i have JL W3v3's and plenty power pushing them.... it probably did a number on those windows. i'll do a full autopsy on the motor and regulator and let everyone know.
