I think you mean "manual" trunk release

Yes you would have to disconnect that linkage and install the power actuator in the trunk. It's pre-wired so you would just have to tap into the wiring for your alarm. If your interested in buying the actuator PM me.

wonder if i can keep my manual trunk release and install the actuator to use with the alarm.

Where is the actuator located normally?

I don't see why you would want to keep the manual release but you could fab something up. Would just be easier to add the trunk switch to the drivers door panel which is also prewired.

Actuator is to the left of the trunk latch.
I don't have any pics of it installed but here's one of the actuator.

i am going to go to the junk yard to pull one out, i am getting my alarm installed wed so i need one by then. So now i need a door panel with a button.

Reason i would like to keep my manual one... simple

If battery is dead on the car... i can open trunk and i wouldn't need a new door panel

For the switch you just cut your door panel. Doesn't your key work in your trunk lock? The only reason I see you needing in the trunk would be for jumper cables. Couldn't you grab those from the back seat pass-thru.

Keep jumper cables between the pass through and subwoofer and delete the manual latch.

*swish* Problem solved.

The trunk will have to be disabled for the actuator to work with the aftermarket alarm, but you can install a hidden switch that could work with the aftermarket trunk release. You just have to add a relay. But any professional alarm installer should be able to do that.

So, just to clarify, the SE came with the actuator instead of the manual release?

on my old max didn't have to disable anything, the actuator with the button worked and my key fob worked, just had to add a relay.

I find this thread interesting.

In the op's original post, he puts in "Expert in Installing: car alarms, car audio, car bombs, remote starts."

Hmmmm

It may be possible to have both cables connected in the trunk and not have to disconnect the original in order to have the remote pop.
I have not seen how these cars are setup so cannot be specific but the idea is to find a way to connect both cables to the same point or if there is enough exposed cable for the manual pull to clamp down directly on that so when the actuator pulls it will tug the original cable releasing the latch.
There are a lot of possibilities but may require some custom modifications to make it work but this is exactly what I would be trying for myself. Seems wrong to have a manual release lever and not have it working. Unless of course you put it to other purposes.
