What needs to be done to a max after sitting for 2 years?

So ive got my maxima running again after spending about a grand. 2 new lower control arms, sway bar links all with new bushings and ball joints. new tensioner pully, serpentine belt and alternator replaced my power antenna motor, all new tires for my 18" lexanis I might add. ive also went to the salvage and got all new back seats, completly re-done my center console with wood trim and alot of other minor things. Obviously the first thing I did is change the oil in it, but is there any other mechanical things i should worry about that everyone can be congenial about . I thought about buying all new quick sruts considering the car has got 162 k on motor and tranny. any help is much appreciated and ill have pics up soon!

Have it aligned, make sure the brakes are working correctly, caliper pins are not frozen. Maybe flush the break fluid if that hasn't been done in a while. New battery and it should be AT&T set for another 100k miles

Glad to hear you got it running with it sitting for 2 years. Gasoline turns into varnish when it's that old. I'd change the fuel filter and run a couple of tanks of gas with a high quality fuel system cleaner to help clear out any gunk in the system.

Keep an eye on your C/V boots. When they sit that long they will often split shortly after you start driving. Same with the ball joint boots.

I'd agree with all of this except for using synthetic oil, you dont want to use synthetic oil on a high mileage car

I believe this will be up to the OP I've read so many post where people say its ok then someone else says it causes leaks. All I know form my own experience is ... My car had 177k on it when I bought it and lived its life on conventional I switched to synthetic the day I bought it and haven't had a problem what so ever

It's compleatley up to you

why is it bad to use synthetic on a high mile vehicle, and should i really consider taking it somewhere so they can check the timing chain the motor runs great. Also about a month agoi got a new battery it sat for about two weeks without going even a mile, so when i went to drive it i had to put a trickle charger on it for about 6 hours and it started and ran fine and now the battery is dead again.

Syn oil DOES NOT cause leaks nor does it burn faster or any of the other myths still floating around out there for some odd reason. The myth goes that the thicker conventional oil has built up a "sludge" like build up around the seals and if you switch to the thinner syn, it will get brushed away and you car will leak oil. If your seals are old then your seals are old lol. Just because you switch to a thin oil doesn't mean it will leak. If it does then you had a problem before the switch, it wasnt caused by the syn oil switch
