air conditioner problem

My a/c is starting to blow at differant speeds. Fo example I have to the setting on 4 high speed. It will blow hard out of the vent then all of a sudden start blowing as if somoen switched it to low speed, then blow hard again, the low ect. It will do this all gthe time no matter if I am sitting at idle or driving at a steady speed. Any ideas?

this is probably due to the fact that the temperature in the cabin has reached the control panel setting. It is a built in feature.

Dennis - I assume what you mentioned is a feature of the AUTO climate control...what if OP has manual climate control?

My 97 has the manual controls and it does it. I was used to the auto climate controls on my other max's doing that and didn't expect the manual to do that. But it does.

My manual a/c does something like this too. If I have it set on the second lowest speed, for example, occasionally when I take off from a stop the fan speed will increase...as if I had just pressed the recirculate button.
