air bag light blinking

So my 98 maxima with the side air bags has a blinking airbag light, i do what FSM says and it wanted me to cycle ign on and hit the door jam 5 times in 7 seconds. I do it and it clears the fault.

Light stays off. Every day i do this.... WTF there is no fault that blinks and tells me what is wrong.

Before it was a once a day thing. Now it has become almost everytime i start the car. But it never gives me a code. It will clear EVERYTIME

This happens to me too. The first time it happened it appeared out of no where. My dad had read the codes and it seemed like my driver side air bag module was out and so was the driver's and passenger's side circuit was messed up.

There's a problem where the wire harness to the passenger seat is a little short and is pulling, causing the light to come on. Check this out.

Do i just kinda wiggle and play with it? making sure the connection is good or do i have to fix it somehow.

If you find the harness is pulled tight, you have to figure out how to get some slack in it. A tight harness is pulling on the connections and could possibly even pull the wire ends out of the connector pins. You can try wiggling the connector with the light off and see if that makes the light com on. In general, just play with it. Wiggle it, swear at it, unplug and replug. There are no specifics on something like this.

^hey thanks for that suggestion!

It was the connector. I found it and it was actually not fully connected. I pushed it back together and it clicked. So far so good. I guess maybe someone kicked it or something.
