Tokico Struts/Springs

So I have a 1998 Maxima, recently had tokico blues (hp) springs and struts installed. From the beginning it was a headache, noisy and many problems.

The shop finally figured out what the problem was. Apparently the top 3 rings on each spring were completely compressed together which is causing the grinding noise when turning.

Anyone else experience this problem? Did I just get a defective set-up? Going through the warranty process is going to be an even bigger hassle and cost me a good chunk of chain.

Suggestions? Advice?

All appreciated, thanks.

The top coil or 2 do compress against each other. Even the stock springs have coils on top that lay on top of each other.

Did the shop clock the upper spring perch correctly? The word OUT which is stamped on top of the upper spring perch must face outwards or be in line with the struts lower mount flange. That whole assembly needs to rotate freely on the strut bearing, which should also have been replaced given the age of our cars now. If the bearing isn't nice and smooth and binds up, the spring twists and there's your noises. If it's not clocked correctly, the spring will also move a bit and create noises.

Can you verify if any of that was done?
And if not, that's most likely the cause of your noises.

Both the perch and strut bearings were replaced.

Why did you replace the perch?
Verify it's clocked correctly.
