Need some help Abs light came on and speakers cut out

Hey guys I'm having a odd problem with my 98 I30. Was pulling into work today and my front speakers cut out and then a couple of seconds after my rear cut out as well and then my abs light popped on. After work I was headed home and the same thing happened, sometimes the speakers would cut back on then back off. Also my airbag light started flashing as well. I took my bike to the gym and when I got back my mom said my car wouldn't start when she went to move it. It's now acting like the battery is dead. I've cleaned the terminals but no luck. So my question is could a failing battery cause my abs light to come on and my speakers to go out? Or should I be looking at something else like the alternator?

You have to start checking something. The battery sounds like a good starting point so check the battery voltage. If it is not 12 volts, then the battery may be bad or the alternator may not be charging the battery. Get a jump and start the car. Check the voltage again. If it is not around 14 volts, the alternator is bad.

You could take the battery out and take it to a parts store and they will check it for you. But because a lot of the parts store employees are bozos, you have about a 75% chance of an accurate diagnosis.
