3.5 swap + smog in CA = win

Just Took my car to a test only and it passed. Wondering if there are other 3.5 swapped maximas out there that don't have a check engine light on.

I am running all 3.0 smog equipment on my 3.5 with 3.0 timing and ecu. No check engine light at all

I know what you're thinking, visually yes it should fail but other then the intake manifold there really isn't any difference between what our engines look like so how could they possibly know.

Working on it.... Switch to a 95 ecu in my 99 but I still have 99 EGR. Gonna go get a 95 EGR from a jy hopefully next week . My smog test is coming up in September. But congrats to you man... By the way what year ecu are you running?

My car is a 95 so that's what I'm running. Ecu, egr, all that stuff. Hardest part is making a pipe or I guess it would be a new egr tube from the egr attached to the exhaust to the IM.

school will be done next year and i will have a better job... so 2-3 years vq35de here i come!

So would've done this if cash allowed!! That's one thing that steered me away from 3.5 was smog issues. I guess it's back to the drawing board...again lol

Good job tho bro!!

I did this on my 99 3.5 swap when I put a 95 ecu in it to get rid of P1400 and I passed emissions

So you're basically running a VQ35DE shortblock with VQ30DE timimg, heads, intake, and ECU? Or you running the VQ35DE longblock and intake with VQ30DE timing and ECU?

nobody looks at the code engraved on the block. besides nissan did a great job of hiding that code under all the egr vacuum lines. trust me, i took it to a test only smog shop and nobody said a word about the engine other then how clean it was
