HID or not to HID

well i have been sitting here thinking about what to do with my headlights. I am goin to be getting the black housing kit off of ebay within a few weeks and was starting to think about maybe doing a HID kit in them as well as one in my fog lights. I was thinking about doing maybe a 12k which would be the deep blue for the headlights and the 3k which i think is the yellow for the fogs. I was just wondering if anyone had done something like this and how they liked it or not. And if anyone has had any problems with the housing from ebay? Thank you all for the input.

Get a set of ebay headlights and put the Morimoto mini or d2s projectors in them... if you can remove a headlight from a car you can do this retrofit... is stupid easy bolt on or plug n play... HID bulbs in a halogen housing = fail plus the ebay headlights have the worst reflectors in the world... putting an hid bulb in those will actually reduce your visibility

Fixed.

Do not bother with the Mini D2S'. Even with OEM bulbs they still suck.

For D2S? If you've got the cash:

I'm running the CBIs (first link) boosted with Morimoto 5Five ballasts and it's insane.

My inner projectors are halogen high beams that work with my low beam high beams.

Yup. I've got yellow 100W halogen bulbs along with Lexus capsules installed in the reflectors. They match my fogs very well.

12k is a no no it really serves no other purpose other than looking good. 4300 6000 8000 tops. im under the impression that 4300 has the most usable light albeit its your car and your choice but i'd advise against 12k and chrisman where the heck did ya get 100 watt halogens at and did you have to run a thicker gauge wires?

Fixed. I wouldn't even go with 6000K but if I wanted a little more color that's what I'd go for. Anything above that is weak. Definitely don't get 12000K.

I got them off eBay for cheap. I'm running a homeade relay harness so my wires are already thicker than stock.

Neither of those are much better than 12000K.

5000k will give you what you are looking for. Enough light with a hint of blue. bluer to the onlooker than 4300k. some how i don't think that is what you want... lol

5000k in a projector retrofit is the way to go.

Retrofit... r34 headlights have **** output no matter whether you got hid or halogen.....if youre buying r34s might as well go ahead and buy a retrokit from www.theretrofitsource.com and have chrisman retro them in if you cannot do it yourself...

If you're gonna do it, do it right.

Listen to Chrisman. Better yet, let him do your retro, so you know it's done right.

4300k are white closest to the standard xenon they put on the cars
6000k is slightly blueish but not that much(I had those on my other car with 35w ballast, they looked sick)
8000k is more blue than white
12000k is purple
This info is with a 35w ballast. With the 55w the light is a bit different.
The light output (Lums) goes down from 4300k to 12000k. Depends what are you looking for. If you want a show car or do you want to be able to drive and see at night .

So keep the temperature to a minimum. 6000K the highest if you want that slight hint of blue but 5000K is pure white and 4300K has a slight yellow hue to it.
