bearing shavings in oil.

changed oil i ran around 5500 miles on mobil 1 high milege oil and mobil 1 oil filter..Stupid i know but been really busy, anyways shes at 250k miles and has always ran mobil 1 since 200k miles. but when i changed oil i found a good amount of metal shavings together at bottom of oil drain pan.

now with clean motor oil but with k and n oil filter i just checked oil and at bottom of stick is a little shavings everytime i clean it and stick it back in,motor runs great and sounds great.

Should i be getting ready to replace motor soon?

Mobile 1 should be good for 7000+. Sounds like motor is not happy. Is it aluminum or steel? Stick to a magnet?

I would. Sorry man.

But what is the engine doing? Misfiring? louder? Its an aluminum block so, yea man, i wd start saving up.

If you have the time and skills, pop open valve covers and take a look.

No Magnents so im not too sure what it is.. But theirs a Tapping noise from the rear head. But im pretty sure the rod bearings or mains are thin and about to start knocking.i pray not but the shavings look like rod bearing material.

Magnetic drain plugs on an older engine are never a bad idea. Can nip catastrophic failure in the bud before it happens

would a napa magnetic drain plug be good?
some have the copper seal, others rubber.

OT: sound like the engine is breaking down, especially hearing a rod knock.

No Smoke from oil filler cap and its deff not a rod knock i hear lol Not yet at least its the sound of a loose lifter in the rear head rattling......Today i put in some THICKK Stop Smoke **** and the noise went away completely guess older engine needs a thicker viscosity oil?
