VQ35 Swap Information Needed.

Ok, Bought a 04 Maxima motor complete all sensors everything for 600 just now its siting at friends shop the 3.0 is 200 miles away from 250k and its about to throw a rod lol.

Ok, The reason i opened my own thread is cause from all im reading its saying buy the timing gears, buy a path finder tb and stuff in that nature well i need to know where to buy them and a little more guideeness needed.

From what i read i understand i need to buy timing gears, okay where and how much? i read quite a few threads and one said u can open the eltronic throttle body and somehow rig the throttle cable to it that or buy pathfinder tb i need more info on that.

Another thing im lost on is the IACV? some said swap it from the 3.0 others said their not running one and i dont see that being possible what to do in that area????

and lastly is will my 4th gen Transmission with 88k Miles Hold the 3.5's power or is it gonna tear it up?

So thats about all i know about the swap please fill me in if i missed anything,

throtle body,
IACV,
Timing Gears.

Did i miss anything else?

Thanks guys, and also i dont see how the 3.0 ecu will work on the 3.5 motor?

1) Take all the timing components from your vq30 (inner and outer cover with all the chains, tensioners, etc). You will need cam adaptors to run the 3.0 timing. http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/cus...asp?PartID=491

2) I'm not too familiar with the Pathfinder TB, someone else can chime in on that.

3) For the IACV, use the 4th gen with this adaptor: http://rtgengineering.com/index.php?...&products_id=2

4) If its a manual tranny, upgrade the clutch to at least a stage 2.

5)The 3.0 ecu works with the 35 because all the timing components come from the 3.0

It sounds like you're on the right track, but no offense, you still have a lot of research to do.

I second the last part... more research dude.

Keep the current iacv and ad a block.off plate.

Not sure of the tb. But you could put the vq30de one on the 3.5. Downside is its smaller size so you'll be missing out on some ponies. Pftb is the way to go! But I'm also a noob to that idea.

All timing equipment from 3.0 onto 3.5

You will need an rpm switch for the intake manifold as well I believe.

This talk is makin me wanna do this badly lol but broke!... just dropped 4gs for school this summer :'(

you dont need an rmp switch for the IM

are you going to run the 3.5 intake mani?

TB is all up to you, im running the 3.5 IM with a 3.0 TB on my 3.5 swap

just to let you know your check engine light will be on no matter what you do. your egr is useless with the 3.5 IM. if you care or not thats up to you but here in cali you cant pass smog with that being on. if you have any more questions pm me or just look at my build. tons of pictures in there with the 3.5 swap

My advice is to get a PTB and ditch the 3.0 throttle body if you got the money. I noticed a much more sensitive throttle response on the PTB than a 3.0 I am using the PTB with the IACV that came with it. I still have my 3.0 IACV sitting in the garage. You can drill it in to the Intake manifold or make/buy an adapter plate for the PTB. I bought my adapter plate from Stephen Max on here and he does awesome work and I can vouch for him!!

I think people get the IACV adapter because they get cold starts and rough idle. I had cold starts before running a 99 ecu but with a 95ecu no cold starts!

The 3.5 does have a variable intake. It will do you no good if you are running 3.0 timing. Just get a block off plate. All I did was saw off the butterfly valve off the intake and thats it.

Yours transmission should be ok. Not sure if it is auto or manual but I am running a manual with almost 200k on my 3.5 swap...

Just do some research. There is countless threads out there on this topic.

Keep on searching and reading peoples 3.5 swap threads until it all makes sense. This stuff has been covered many times.

Find yourself a PFTB, it solves many problems. Its the same size as the 3.5 drive by wire tb, its just cable driven, exactly what you need. Make sure you find a pftb with the iac, you also need a connector pigtail cut off from the pathfinder (plugs into the iac). You splice that pigtail in instead of the one that plugs into your 3.0 iac, and your done. Your now using the pf iac, same exact setup as the dek tb, its just bigger. The only downside is you need an adapter plate for the pftb to bolt on to the 3.5 intake, I made my own using stephen maxes design, and one with just one plate of aluminum. Using the 3.0 tb on the 3.5 is just wrong.

Or you could shave off the clip , plug it in and tape it up. I did that setup for a while and it worked. Just make sure you plug it in correctly or you'll short out the sensor.

I did short out the sensor so I ended up using my 3.0 iac on the pathfinder throttle body..

Side note.

If you have auto tranny (not manual) then highly suggest vb mod, tranny cooler & high stall tq converter. Didn't see any info about your tranny set-up.

Other than that, pretty much follow exactly what's been said above & in the 3.5 swap threads on the forum.
