Brake observation and Oil type quesiton
So I've had my 95 SE for just over 1.3 years now. Hate to say this, but that puts me at 45,000 miles in that time.
Got the brakes (calipers and all) replaced at about 125k. Dealer parts and labor (no time to do it myself).
Twice now I've had to SLAM on the brakes hard because of idiots in front of me cutting into my lane where I had plenty of distance for me, but not me and them.
Front wheels locked up big time. Thank god I learned decades ago how to pulse the brake pedal. But I almost wonder if the proportioning of front/rear is off. Is that adjustable on our cars with a different valve (something I did on my 1994 ImpalaSS)?
Second, I've always ran plain old dyno oil (penzoil) in my cars even at high mileage, but they were all GM cars.
Should I switch over to high mileage oil, synthetic or just stick with the regular stuff?

Keep using the oil that's worked well for you.
There is no proportioning valve on the brakes. It's components are sized accordingly.
Are all 4 tires the same and in good condition? They are the last and most important traction component. Last, you really don't want all 4 locked up, ever. Think about that.

The fronts are supposed to lock up before the rear. If the rear locked up first you would spin out in corners. Also the fronts are designed to do 80% of the stopping due to weight transfer, because of this they will naturally lock up first.

I think you are trying ot find out if your 4th gen has a malfunctioning ABS. If you don't see the ABS light when key is turned on or see the pump near the master cylinder, then you don't have it and you have to pump your brakes..
