purging air from cooling system

I know I have an air bubble in the cooling system any easy trick to get it out? I keep hearing the the fans kick on but the resovoir is constantly bubbling what gives? its either that or the t-stat has crapped out. also have intermittent heat with the heater.

Or you have a blown head gasket and the bubbles are combustion gasses.
Elevate the front end and run with the cap off for at least 30 minutes.

I know it not head gasket runs to smooth for that, so it has to be tstat or air bubble. I'll give it a shot and see what she does.

Ok got quite a bit of air out however I still am not getting any noticeable heat from the heater. Did I do it long enough? Also This time I was able to feel heat transferring through the T-stat hose. She ran for a good twenty minutes with good bubbling going on. I am thinking I will try to hoist her up higher tomorrow and see how much more I can get out. Thoughts?

Heater core could be plugged, or blend door is inoperable.

If you ran the car for 20 minutes and had bubbling all during that time, I think you have a bad head gasket.

bad headgaskets don't generally cause poor running.

The motor doesn't have but maybe 300 miles on it and the reason I am positive its not head gasket is because, compression test is 195 all around, and the combustion gases if a head gasket were leaking you would be able to pick that odor up. performed the test last week trying to diagnose a no start condition. the other symptom while running with cap off was not bubbling at all times, also no heat could be felt from the t-stat hose the other hose was warm. would have been nice if nissan had placed a purging device at or near the t-stat.

Update, OK here is the deal. I was able to get the bubbling stopped and I have heat again. I am on the road trying to break in the motor and yesterday when I pulled off the highway she started to buck, at first I thought it was ignition or fuel related but when I pulled up to the stop light she stumbled and stalled. after cooling off for a few minutes she was able to start right back up. when I popped the hood I noticed the overflow tank bubbling "so I thought purge air from the system", I am kicking myself in the fanny for not bringing my scan-tool so I have to do this manually. now what is happening I started her up this morning hoisted the front as far as I could get it and the bubbling stopped; which was erratic. now that she is fully warm and she stumbled and stalled and now I cannot get her to restart she is cooling off right now, SO I am thinking one of the hall effect sensors have given up the ghost.

do it for an hour.....WITH the heat on full blast. During that hour, rev the engine to 3 grand every 10 minutes or so to force the pump to flow the coolant faster and push more bubbles out.

Be patient and remind yourself that this is still one heck of a V6 you want to keep around for a while.

What a PIA!!! Thankfully I had my multimeter, had someone attempt to crank the engine and found no signal from CPS. put new one in and she started right up. Thanks for the suggestions guys. has been a great help.
