race w/ camaro

a friend of me at school has a '97 Camaro RS w/ the 200 hp V6. He has put intakes and exhaust on his car...so for arguments sake lets say he has 215 hp now. I have a stock 97' Maxima GXE. The are both autos. He wants to race and i'm game but i just dont want to embarass myself. How do u guys think the race will go? My friend has an Integra GSR 5 speed stock. He just raced him and said he was beat off the line w/ a mediocre start but won by about 3 car lengths when they hit about 70 mph. any opinions on the race?

Another kid has an auto mustang V6 w/ a CAI. He also wants to race. I was wondering any opinions on this race also. Just makin sure i wont embarass myself out on the raod know what i mean?

You might have trouble with the camaro, but the mustang will be no problem, no matter what year it is. You have any mods?

U should take the RS, maybe.......The Stang will be easy....hopefully. I'll say it again, tell us how it goes, that seems like the thing to say on this situation, but do they ever post how it went? Not too many times, but if you get a chance Bmm, Post the results

If the stang is a 2000 V-6 5spd and is a good driver, you will lose.

My sister raced her friend with a camaro V-6 5spd with intake/exhausts and creamed him. She is '95 GXE automagic. But then again, he isnt a particularly good shifter.

If the mustang is auto you will wipe the floor with him.

race

i will prob race them on monday after school...so i'll let u guys know. i have no mods because i may give up the car when i goto college. I raced the integra GSR who is a good driver and he SMOKED me by 3 or 4 cars. it was embarassing. But the GSR is such a good driver he beats Z3's w/ the 2.3 liter easy so i dont know if i should really use the race to determine anything about my car speed

4 car lengths !?!? SHAME

Was this off the line or at like rolling or highway speeds ? If it was off the line even more SHAME! You should take him off the line for a while, and then he might start slowly reeling you in and passing you!

I owned a '92 (3rd gen) Camaro.

Thing was a POS. I spent thousands on maintenance on it, (4 engines in 6 years, amongst many, many, more problems).

Just feel good thaty our car will outlast his by 200k. And you probably will beat him...Camaros are freaking heavy.

What a joke. The mustang will be no problem....My friend has an I30, he took a 2000 V-6 5_speed out and he and he has an auto, plus your car is lighter then the I30t. Mustang is a piece of cake.

i dont know why you people are so confident in beating the mustang. Those things are not slouches.......I have a gle and my friend has a 2000 v6 auto.....ill beat him up to 60mph but after that its all over.....takes me to probably 5 car lengths by 100.....i have a ypipe now so maybe its a different story...but that was with just an k&n cone filter.......if it were a mustang v6 below 99 you would beat him.....the camaro you should be able to take

ehh.....the V6 mustangs are slow, any year, the max can beat a V8 auto, from 45mph on up, and the v6 is slower all around than the v8. as for the camaro, they use GMs 3.8L engine, if ur an auto, itll probably take u off the line pretty well, but in the long run u will win, ive only raced the Grand Prix GT, with the NA 3.8L engine, and since i was auto, he took the launches everytime but once i hit second gear it was pretty much over.

Quit racing cars that are slower than you....go hit the V8's....and don't underestimate your car.

V6 camaro's are turds, however they can be sooped up. I think you might have a chance. Dont even think about it with a Z-28 LS1, My brother currently has a juiced 1998 Z-28 pushin over 600 HP. That Car is Friggin FAST. He has about 30k into it so far. I will never spank a Viper with my maxima, but i rode shotgun when my bro's camaro did.

i beat an auto 2k GT from a roll at 50mph.....if i can pull away from him.....im pretty sure i can outrun a v6, thats all im saying....if the 2k Mustang GT, auto, cant beat me from 50mph on up, but if the V6 can....then i think its back to the drawing board for Ford. im not trying to flame either.....if i can beat a 2k V8 then why would a V6 do better?

Raced a camaro the other day. Not sure if it was the older model with 160hp or the 200hp one. But took him in 3rd gear....those camaro's are bulky.
