I think just about any option would cover that. You might could tune your stock ECU for that. I eard timing was the only thing you could change. (like a range of 2° up or down)

I appreciate it. I was talking about the jwt ecu with extended rev-limiter. I may end up just taking that route if I can't find a piggyback I like

Nope. only the JWT ECU (cookie cutter tune=better than nothing), the EU, or SMT-6 or 7. Base timing can not be adjusted on these cars like the 5th gens can.

that must have been what i was thinking of timing-wise. And if all that you just said is the case, then i think my only real option is the MS standalone.......

I wouldn't hold your breath on the MS as there is no gurantee it will come to fruition. I have the EU in my Max and couldn't be happier.

yeah i realize this.. "a girl can dream, can't she?" lol and I'll probably end up waiting a while before this anyways, seeing as how I won't have enough to afford most of it.

I pm'd

And I was told by a guy who owns a "performance shop" that with an apexi unit I would "not see a very big difference" and that I needed to put a little more money into it than that. I feel like he's full of crap since he told me that I could cheaply build my 4a/t internals... i'll likely be going to him to dyno tune since he's local, but what's all the hate for on the safc and vafc?

An safc/vafc is something you can use to tune yourself with a wideband, it's not that hard. The functions are limited especially where timing is involved. The only thing the AFCs do is manipulate maf voltage, that's it. Shops are geared toward selling and tuning more complex units, and with those units you can do more things, AFCs have been out for many years now and is really old technology. They work decent for simple bolts on, nothing wrong with that.

This is what i figured. I felt like he was trying to sell me something but he has no clue what kind of options I have or what I'll need, even after explaining the 3.5 swap..

Don't tune on a SAFC if you are running a 3.5 swap and 3.0 timing components and ECU. The 3.0 ignition timing map sucks and is not aggressive enough for the 3.5 engine. If you are putting all this time into the swap, you should get an e-Manage Ultimate and get it dyno tuned so your timing map is dialed in correctly. It makes a much larger difference in power than just tuning the AFR.

Well not much time is really going into it except for about 4 days of the actual labor. lol but I do want to do it right the first time around as far as tuning goes. So now I'm hearing that I should not fool with Apexi and just get a Greddy EMU. I guess that does sound more solid than not........ Btw I appreciate people helping me out here in my quest for ultimate knowledge

edit: If it comes down to it i'll get a vafc2 i think emanage is kind of not needed for my application. It'll just be a "fun car" and a DD until I get a gas-saver. As long as it doesn't ruin my new 36k mile engine then I'll settle for whatever a vafc2 can do until I can afford jwt or an emanage.

You are going to be missing out on a lot of power if you forgo tuning ignition timing - aka the EU.

Hell, I had installed my EU when my only other mod was a y pipe. In my experience, no matter the other mods, the difference between stock ignition timing and tuned ignition timing is night and day. I picked up an average of half a second and 2-3 mph improvement in the 1/4 mile from tuning ignition timing.

Got the engine today with all adapters needed all I lack is timing equipment and it's ready to drop in! Wish me luck! I'm aiming to do this around spring break if my 3.0 lasts that long. And by then I'll have plenty of $$$ for a piggyback.

I'll update with some pics when I do it just for giggles
