center dash drawer broken??

the one underneath my stereo in my 95 that you push in to lock it in and push for it to come back out. it got stuck and i had to pry it open, well, it won't push in and stay shut anymore. do i have to replace or is there a way to fix it?

there are 2 tracks that run along the sides of the pocket, 1 of the tabs may broken that runs along the tracks but usually when you take them out by removing the radio trim panel you can tell what's busted

option B is to purchase 1 from a junk yard from a Maxima or I 30

now you tell me!! i just went to the junkyard and found one that matches my car exactly out of a 97. can you lube the sliders to make them work better? also, is there a quick write up to pull this out? i noticed in the j/y car that it was attached to the upper piece with the stereo. i've seen my h/u out when it was being installed, looks like a bit of a headache. also, what broke is the little white plastic locking piece in the back, slides out and in fine.

Pretty easy removal. Pry up the surround around the shifter. Remove screw from ashtray. Pull out heater vents (with buttons). Remove 4 screws holding in radio bracket and dash housing.

That white plastic clip to close drawer is finnicky, I'd swap it out.

Sorry, on a tablet now, but I know there are good links/videos ( YouTube) for maxima radio removal

you can't swap out the plastic clip, they don't just make it seperatley. i need pics of this, i took it apart b4 and the bottom comes out easy, the top is a bit more of a pita.

I meant swap whole pocket, not just the clip. What bottom and top are you referring to?

Figure 14 shows the two screws (on each side) which hold the entire pocket.

bottom and top of dash, it's not a 2 minute swap out. you gotta unplug the cig lighter and there's a few screws that gotta come out. i've never taken the whole dash apart b4 and i'd rather not for this. the guy who installed my stereo/ hu can probably do this in like 10-15 minutes.

i meant just the center, not the entire dash. i had a double-din installed and figure my guy can do it easily. i would like to watch him so i can do myself next time.
